I have noticed this alot, but for me its much harder to rank a subpage of site with a keyword in comparison to ranking a site with the exact keyword in the domain. Has anyone notice this aswell, or give reasons why this is the case. Is it simply, google gives more ranking power to sites with the exact keyword in the domain.

THey rank but it's very hard, even with Amazon's sites, most of their product sites rank in lower 10.

You;re right. It is often harder to rank for inner pages. If you're using an XFactor method for example then you will tend to rank better for yuo main keyword since it is also present in the domain name.

You can rank better for inner pages but it all boils down to some very good keyword research. For example for inner pages I tend to try and target keywords that stem off the main keyword phrase so for example

    "keyword phrase" + additional term

or additional term + "domain keyword phrase"

I hope this makes sense. If you keep your keywords as close as possible to the domain name keywords then it should be a little easier.

Ive seen a lot of XFactor sites that are wayyyyyy of the mark.

Anyway, hope it all works out.

    Good luck
