Hello. I am new here to the forums. And new to adsense...just a simple question. I couple years ago, I was reading up on adsense, and tried putting it on a site I was creating. The site never got up and running, and I ended up throwing the towel in on the whole endeavor. But I did sign up for an account and was approved back then. I just signed up for a new account, it is under review.....I have no idea what my other log in details from years ago are, so I just created a whole new acct. Adsense says you can only have one account. Should I go about trying to figure out my old account details, or has Google disabled that account due to inactivity? (I think it was 2006 that I had applied before) I don't want to do anything to get banned......

It is possible that you are doomed. My adsense account was inactive for two years before I decided to start doing something with it last year. It was still open after two years of activity.

If your old account is still active, and you have signed up for a new one, the best case scenario is that your "new" application will be denied because there is another account "active" with your details on it. From there, you will want to get the log in information -- hopefully, at the very least, you know the email address that you used. If you did, you can get the password easily (also assuming you have the password for your old email account?). If not, you are basically doomed.

Or, Google will assume you are trying to get one on them and will ban you and close your old "active" account. In that case, you here are doomed as well.

Since you have already acted (trying to sign up for the new account) before you properly investigated your options, the best course of action is to WAIT and see what Google decides.

Based on that, your course of action will become very clear.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your help. Google sent me and email stating that I couldn't open an account because there was already one on file in my name. Their email gave me instructions on how to access the old account. Once I was back into my old account, I was able to change my account info if I wanted: username, password, email associated with the account, etc...

Thank goodness I was not doomed! LOL I am glad I got back into my old account, because I have $16.38 waiting for me from 2006 that I never even knew about!

Do you have the same email address you sign up to adsense with? do you remember it? If so, go to the adsense sign in page and click on the "forgot my password" button. They ask for your email, you type it in, and they send your old password to you. If adsense denies you, they're going to send you an email notifying you of there decision. they will give you advice on how to correct the problem & advise you to correct it and try again. But if I were you, I'd do everything in my power to find email and password to old adsense account or maybe if you remember your old email but it's closed out, try opening a new account with the old address then use it to get your password sent to you.

Glad to here you got things straightened out. I did the same thing you did: opened an adsense account in 2006 then just abandoned it. I mean the Exact Same Scenario of yours! got denied for a new account and everything. Finally, I got access to my old account and to my suprise had $10 that had acumilated over the years and all I did was add adsense to a blog before I abandoned it. Ten bucks isn't much but I can never say that "I never made a penny online" or "making $ online is a scam". Apilm, What do think your $16.38 or my $9.64(to be exact) would look like today if we would've just stuck with it? By now I think we would have honed the skills to generate any amount of income we want to have, cars, nice house, whatever! Now we have to start were we left off in 2006. I'm not "giving in" this time and i hope you don't either.

Wow, I know, if we would have stuck it out....I don't even want to think about it. I am going to stick it out this time. At least until something prevents me from not doing it. (I have this fear of having my account banned) stupid unfounded fear....like I will have put all this work into it, and out of the blue will get the 'banned' email from google...oh well, what's meant to be will be. But I will just plug away and try to make that $16.38 grow! Good luck to you!

I do have one another question, and maybe I should start a new thread...but the question seems so trivial to.....so I will just ask here. After you place the code on your page, how long does it usually take for the ads to show up? I have had the code on one of my pages now for over 24 hours....not quite 48....and one ad block only shows a public service announcement while the other block doesn't show anything at all.
        Thanks!
