Is the following a safe assumption (I realize there are other variables of course):

If I have a site and write articles on site. I then continue to build backlinks and write a large number of keyword specific articles ... over time, those articles that are not ranking will increase in ranking in the SERPS as a result of adding fresh content (thus increasing PR)?

Yes I would say that is true, even if you just submit to ezinearticles and do blog posts you can boost your page rank. Age of the domain also plays a factor, I would never buy backlinks just do what you have been doing and you should increase page rank I have a website I started last year and only published about 25 articles and it has a PR of 2 so it is definitely possible

Yea its a pretty sound assumption. Just keep writing quality articles and ensure you have specific keyword based anchor text that are deep linked to the relevant pages of your site. What I do is bookmark these articles which gives them a lot of power, not to mention the PR that is passed via internal linking on say EZA. I have noticed that after a few months my articles gain PR and then pass this onto my money sites.

    Hope that clarifies everything.

    Good luck with everything

Thanks for the feedback. It helps.

Should I link each new article that I do back to the home page or random deep linked pages (IE: Other articles?)

You should definitely vary where they link back to. The majority to the home page but not all. Make sure you monitor which keywords/content are bringing visitors to your site. Install Google webmaster tools and analytics, then monitor which pages are ranking for which terms. When you see which keywords your pages are naturally ranking for you can select and support with your articles and backlinks.

You'll often be surprised which phrases your web site ends up ranking for, you'll then get a chance to help the search engines along by building back links.

For instance imagine looking through webmaster tools and see that a particular page is ranking page 4 without any intention for a popular keyword phrase. You could then point some articles with appropriate anchor text to help boost those rankings.

Hope that helps - it does work

That makes sense to me. I just need to stay on top of it. I am writing about 10 articles per day for the site ... hope that is not overdoing it.

How many pages do you have on the site that you are targetting?

I currently have 38 pages (articles that are individually keyword targeted) and write about 5 - 10 articles per day (on site). There are a large number of keywords that I am going for and most are long tail non competitive.

I would certinly deep link into pages. Liek the post above says, it DEF works. If you know a lot about your topic then you shoudl write relevant articles as they will be more relavent and chances are if you're selling a product you'll probably convert as well. Remember this isn't ging to happen overnight, it could take weeks or months for it to really kick in. DO use Webmaster Tools and some kind of ranking checker as this will also act as motivation when you see an increase in rankings.

I would take Neil's advice as well as this is excellent information, most SEOs do that, without any kind of tracking data you wont have any transparency on whats happeneing.

    Anyway good luck

Yes that would be the general idea. I have always found that in building backlinks - set aside time to build X amount of backlinks per day, this means you can stay focused on the end goal of driving traffic to the site.

Exactly, and its very easy to get sidetracke, espcially with so many Warriors offereing so much advice. My advice is to just stay with what you know and what works for you.

For example, I use Article Marketing, Social bookmarking submitting my RSS feeds and thats pretty much it but you know what? It works, I know theres plenty of things I can do but if it ain't broke why fix it?

Fresh content alone does not improve rankings.

Just because you add new text to a site does not mean that Google will deem it as relevant or more important than the pages that are already ahead of you in the SERPs.

I am also backlinking each article through social book mark sites, etc.. In addition to this I am regularly backlinking the home page as well. I hope that all works toward building up the PR even though I know the PR is not the 'End all be all.
