why are my google rankings jumping each day?

I am not talking about the Google dance here. I am talking well established sites. One day they are like number on Google. The next day no-where...then the day after they are number 1 again....

What's the story? I can't understand why I am starting to see these enormous jumps in positioning.

I have the same experience especially with my 7 months old mortgage site.
It has been ranked with one long tail keyword from page 1 to page 15
and is jumpping almost every day.

I do not actually understand this. One thing I noticed: the jumping accelerates every
time my new article submissions go to the directories.

Then today I found out that my Ezinearticle article, which went automatically to Twitter,
was ranked extremely high and several times with the same keyword as a Twitter tweet!

Is this something only Google does?

Runner is right, The problem you are facing is common. Changing position in Google depends on SEO activities performed by you and your competitors.

    Thanks
