Hey,

I have just started to run some affiliate websites with wordpress and am starting to get into some back linking. So a question about SEO, back linking and keywords.

Say my website is (buypoolequipmentdotcom)
and i find out that pool filter is a keyword i want to target, should i create my backlinks directed to (buypoolequipmentdotcom) with the keyword pool filter or make a new post that is (buypoolequipmentdotcomslashpoolfilter) and direct the back link to that page?

Any advice?
(hopefully u can understand the links under 15 posts =/.)
Cheers

Dez

    Hi Dezire,

Congrats on getting your site going. As for the keywords, I would focus on both. Write articles based around that filter, do reviews and post that article to social bookmarking sites along with article directories. But don't stop there. Create a Squidoo lens for that filter and a Hubpage. Yes, direct the traffic to buypoolequipment.com/poolfilter. You will see traffic to your site in no time. Don't forget to create a site map for your blog and register it with Google.

As for your domain name. Focus on keywords in your niche and you will get listed in the engines regardless. Maybe write a few articles based around the keyword "Buy Pool Equipment." Hope that helps a bit. Best of luck.

Just to clarify - your affiliate website is selling all sorts of pool equipment, right? So that includes pool filters, (I dont know about pool stuff but) pool sponges, pool noodles, whatever.

If that is the way the site is set up, then the best way to get backlinks is to target general pool related terms to your homepage and then specify specific backlink text for each portion of the site - so pool filters would go to buypoolequipment.com/filters etc. This helps your overall keywords and density because Google takes all the relative keywords in your site and compares them to the main theme of the site which is generally found on the homepage - so doing this would rank your site well for any pool related terms.... I have a really hard time explaining this over text its easier if I draw a picture haha. Let me know if that makes sense, if not I will try to reword it.
