  • I average around 4 % click through rate which seems pretty decent
  • If your getting 5-6% you are in real good shape!
  • Yes, the above posts are right, but keep in mind that you are not allowed (by Google) to discuss your CTR of a specific site openly. It's in their TOS

To increase CTR I would place just one text ad block immediately below the headline of your article on the page. I would not put other blocks of ads really, because this lowers CTR. The user seems to get confused.

This has proven to work well time and time again.

    • I get much higher than 5-6% on all of my sites. It's all about ad placement and how relevant they are. Also not giving your visitors a solution but making them continue seeking the solution
    • Guten Tag. Totally agreed. Less ads are better, you want the visitor to have as few options as possible. If you confuse them with a big site full of ads they'll more likely just click back. But if you have a tightly focused page with one set of ads in a good location, blended and yet sticking out at them, then they'll click more often then not.

However, it's still hard to get above 6% consistently if you also have affiliate links, products, or anything else on the page. I've never done purely adsense focused yet. It only accounts for 30% of my revenue.
    • True, and just a few words of caution - make sure your title/heading dosn't act as a direct incentive pushing viewers to click on your ads, as this is against google adsense policy and your account could get banned!
  • I've read the same as well. I used to have them on the side and my CTR wasn't good at all.
  • The average CTR is 1.5 to 2%.. More than that is cool.
