In google search results, you can submit a comment and
promote a page up. Has anyone done this to their own page?
Is there anything gained from commenting? Does this affect
the SERPS for other searchers?

I am also curious about this. I just noticed it the other day. I was thinking about having someone comment on my site just to see what happens. Anyone got any experience with this?

Isn't this part of Google's personalized search, or whatever it is called?

I think you are right. I saw somewhere you could read other
comments. It does appear only to be related to your personal
search results, however, so I see no reason for the comment
thing. If you like a site, you bookmark it, right? And the promote
arrow, well, I guess you could get a #1 ranking on the next search
      you do!

I understand this only impacts the personal search results for the person (computer) doing the promoting. Kind of a useless feature IMO.

  • It's been around awhile and there was a lot of talk at first. Doesn't seem to be doing anything other than providing Google Test Data. If you plug you own stuff it wouldn't be too difficult for Google to figure out. IMHO it's a waste of time.
