Hey guys!

I am new to IM and I am so glad to have found this forum. Reading through these posts really gave me lots of insight as to what I need to do to make my first sale!

One of the biggest questions I need some help with is how to check backlinks on article directories such as Ezine Articles. I have tried using yahoo site explorer but they do not give backlinks.

Also, is backlinking articles the same as backlinking a website? What I mean is do they same techniques(linkwheels or article linking) work to gain position within google?

Thanks!
Solag

You check articles backlinks just the same as a webpage, you can use site explorer.

If no results are showing that means the backlinks have not yet been indexed.

And yes backlinking is the same.

    Hope this helps

Get Firefox, install the SEO Quake Plugin. I go to the options and disable all the tools except Yahoo page backlinks (ignore the domain or site links for EZA). Then do a search like this in google:

site:ezinearticles.com "Your Name In EZA" "your topic"

Your articles will show up - and you can check the backlinks for all of them at once with SEO Quake. Easy and free.

Currently in research mode, any and all thoughtful replies are appreciated!

No matter what tool you use there are going to be a lot of backlinks that just don't show up. That doesn't mean they aren't indexed. It just means noone is really allowed to see the full picture.

Something that can help though is as soon as your article is accepted do some social bookmarking. One of the quickest and cheapest is Onlywire. You can can submit to about 30 social bookmarking sites with the push of a button and it's free if you put a link to them on your blog. If you don't want to put a link you can pay $2.99 a month. I've found that Ezines show up pretty quickly in the backlink checker when bookmarking them. Some Ezines will show both backlinks and some will only show 1.

Another free tool is SEO Spyglass - it's shows the PR of each one of your backlinks also. But again you'll never see them all.
