Does your search query content quotes? For example your keyword is "computer watch", and you want to verify the top10 competition, do you include "" in google search? Btw I'm running micro niche websites, and I've always searched without the quotes, but I'm not really sure now if what I'm doing is right, so just want to confirm it.

Thanks!

generally, you would be looking for a search "in quotes" to only show a volume below 100,000 - which means there are not a great number of competing webpages.

Don't rely just on that though - you should be looking at other factors as well like:

look for keywords/phrases that buyers would actually type into google - like " where to buy computer watch"

doing an in quotes search will also give you an idea of how many pages have your keywords in it and gives you a rough idea on "on page SEO" to see if you can rank above them

of course certain tools will make that easier, there are many posts here on the WF how to get access to them

You don't want to use the quotes when looking at the top 10.

Type in the phrase without quotes and then check to see what the PR and links are for those sites listed.

It's not always accurate but as a general rule the lower the PR, the easier it is to rank for the term.
