Directory Submission: What is it, and does it still work?

1. The difference between a link farm and a link directory is a link farm is 1 page that has hundreds of links on one page that people have set up to help people get backlinks.....This is a bad method.... Link directories are favored a lot more in google because the good link directories filter out the crappy spamming links and they have all of there links categorized and neatly sectioned on there web page. Google really appreciated having good structure to a site. Most link directories will only all you to have 15-30 links per page which makes it better because on a link farm there could be over 1000 on one page. Google does appreciate and puts higher value on link directories that follow there guidelines

2.Try to find a link directory that has the same basic concept as your site. So say you have a skin care website. You would then find directories that coincide with that niche. Make sure the directories have a decent PR and that your webpage will be at max 3 click off the main page. Any more and your wasting your time. You want to have relevant links coming from relevant sites in your niche. Just posting to 1000 directories usually is a entire waste of time because 99% of those directories aren't quality. So google link directories and find good ones in your niche

3.Some of the good sites that i have had good luck with are of course dmoz, google and yahoo. but that's a given. Good directories business.com, Bestoftheweb.com, searchturtle.com and there are a few companies that do a quality link building program for you. Submitedge.com is one of the best companies for the best prices. I have seen my backlinks increase almost 20% in alot of cases after buying there $15 package

4.Link directories don't carry that much wait in google anymore. They do provide quality backlinks but google's algorythm has been adapted over the past while to not accept alot of these pages because most of them are garbage sites that are just selling poor quality backlinks. If you are looking to boost your web pages performance for a short period it has been shown to help. But over all for longevity its better to get backlinks from other methods such as articles, blogs, forums and decent higher ranking sites in your niche
