Can someone please let me know/provide the best free backlink checking tool?

I tried to find the google one in webmaster central but no luck. I want to check all my sites backlinks and some tools say one thing and others have different results. where can i get a tool that is 100% accurate?

Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no tool that will show ALL your backlinks.

My guess is that the search engines won't share this because it would basically be like handing you a "recipe" for your competitor's SEO campaign.

    Here's a couple popular ones though -

http://www.backlinkwatch.com (good for seeing anchor text)

    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

I used Backlinkwatch too but there isn't a perfect or the best one as I've not come across one of that sort. For me I do lots of profile backlinking and as long as I can see that my profile links are indexed, that's good enough for me. I know that the backlinks in my profile pages will come later even if they don't not show up in these tools.

Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch (good for seeing anchor text)

I use backlinkwatch.com in conjunction with Backlink Checker

I love backlinkwatch.com but sometimes a "50,000 queries executed" message comes up. The online-utility.org tool doesn't tell you whether it is no follow or dofollow and doesn't give you the keywords, but it organizes the links a little better.

SEO Quake isn't a backlink checker per se. SEO Quake just pulls in the data from yahoo site explorer.

Sign up to Google Webmaster Tools - http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

You need to verify your site. It's quite easy - you just need to follow the instructions. Once you are done you will find your website's domain name listed there. Click the domain name link and you will be taken to the Dashboard. Now on the left menu you will find "Links to your site" when you click and expand the "Your site on the web" link.

I am sure that I have a few more links (according to Yahoo Site Explorer) than those displayed in Google Webmasters Tool but it's from Google and that's what count, at least for me.

      Hope this helps.

P.S. You can submit your sitemap.xml to Google Webmaster Tool from your account.

Try Traffic Travis... you can analyze backlinks with it using Google, Yahoo and Altavista. Here's a screenshot of the section for backlink analysis:

Yep. I use multiple tools. Don't rely on one.

In my own experiences, combining using seoquake toolbar with backlinkwatch would be the best channel for digging backlinks with anchor text and other essential factors for backlinking purpose.

Check out mostlyblack.com, it gives plenty of useful information about backlinks.

    linkdiagnosis.com also gives good information.

SEOquake is great but the search engines start to develop an allergy to it after a few hours of heavy use. Google shuts down on me and eventually so does Yahoo. Yahoo site explorer hates that thing. Eventually even the yahoo link and link domains start to come up 0 on everything.

Backlinkwatch is great but only shows you the first 1000 links so you just better hope that they don't all come up as something like from all one site, like a footer link on a large forum that'll return like 1000 different thread links.

Use a proxy and change your ip after a few searches , also clear your cookies often that way you can use it for an infinite number of searches without getting your home ip banned.
