I suppose we all are looking for backlinks from those top domains

I'm using google: site:.edu vbulletin which provide list of .edu domains having vbulletin forum etc...

I'm looking for other search combinations I could use for finding sites to post backlink from.

I do this in addition to using Angela Backlinks, but I see a problem with those backlinks, as so many are using that package, the backlinks loose it's link juice... that's why I'm trying to find backlinks on my own..

anyone got search combinations I could use?
#backlinks #gov #mil

If you go to google.com and start typing "powered by..." google gives you options to end your search phrase. Then use the search command you have mentioned, but use keywords suggested by google instead of vbulletin. Of course it is reasonable to check before if certain platform is dofollow. You can aslo google "forum platform(s)" and check if they are do or no follow and then again repeat your search command.

    Hope this helps.

      Well said Kickmoko,

Its the search term/phrase I use, and just 2 days I got a link from a PR 6 edu blog.

Its works well.. Of course there is a lot of sites to work through, but there are definitely nuggets out there worth chasing..

Thank you for those great tips, I've already found a PR3 .edu blog which I've posted backlink from (post is awaiting moderation, hope it don't take forever). I keep on looking for more high authority backlinks using that search phrase

In addition I use investigate the backlinks of my competitors and try to create the same backlinks... I use SEO SpyGlass to invsetigate backlinks on competitor sites. I concentrate on creating backlinks with the highest link value. Today I've created about 2 such backlinks. Too bad I have to wait for those comments to be moderated.... Sometimes I must wait ages. Some comments I created when I created this thread hasn't been moderated yet...

If you are a War Room member, there is this great threat from a guy named Adam, sharing 1.000 edu/gov backlinks (free, no optin) with the WR members. Here you go!

Google is cracking down blogs comments so I think whatever domain extension you may have, blog commenting will be useless...

Yes, there has been some chatter about Google cracking down on blog
comments but I'm not convinced this is true.

Could this be an attempt by others to plant false info so people stop
      posting comments on blogs?

I'm still getting positive boost in the SERPs from my blog comment links
for my clients that I do SEO for.

Edu, Gov, Com, Net, Org and even non-U.S. blogs like Co.uk are helping me
and it is now almost one year after this thread was started.

Whilst skeptical at .edu domain backlinks etc to start with, having trialed them before Christmas the results seem to be very positive coming into the New Year, although I notice a 2-3 week window before getting results, but then suddenly seeing 20-30% traffic spike.

My only worry is how long before their owners sense potential misuse?

That said for the minute the links do seem to uplift traffic.

Yep - comment links are useless except the the users that click the links in. No SEO benefit anymore.

Doesn't matter what the domain ext is.

Ask Matt Cutts - this is old news.

I have used EDU and GOV a lot and they always provide great rankings! And as far as Matt Cutts goes he never discredits comments or even a site with a lot of OBL. Basically he even says that the idea of PR sculpting doesn't work
