Who rates what the best?

I have used them both and am currently paying $0.07 CPC on both Services

I have got great traffic from both but am still finding I get more buyers per click with Google than I do with Facebook

I know right now everyone seems to be jumping ship to FB ads - but what do the warriors who have used both got to say on this subject?

Thanks!

    No wonder.

I too believe Google will always send much more targeted traffic than Facebook or any other site for that matter. We still search Google when we want any information about anything. How many of us think Facebook as a source of information.

Currently Ryan Deiss is promoting a product where he explains why you should dump Google (both organic search and ppc) and resort to Facebook Ads for "targeted traffic". Many gurus who are promoting the product followed the suit. I think all of our inboxes are flooded by mails with subject lines like - "Google sucks!" , "Facebook owns Google" , "Google admitted that they fear" etc. etc.

    But I am not convinced.

What do you warriors think? Does Facebook score higher than Google when it comes to targeted traffic?

Yeah I watched Ryans videos too - I do get traffic from FB decent traffic and at a fair price (IMHO) but less customers than I do from Google

Logically, I don't think FB (or any other search engine alternative) will ever perform better than Google. Google users are actively looking for what you have to offer and are therefore the most qualified. FB users probably glanced at your ad in between their mafia hits or farm tending. From that perspective it's the same as CPM banner advertising which also doesn't perform as well as Google.

not for me , i've been testing out facebook PPC , and never got good results yet.

For mastering facebook PPC , you definitely need lots of testings , and thus lot of money to spend beforehand.

so i would stay mostly with adwords , and side by side do small testings with facebook, just to figure out what works there and how .

I have set up hundreds of Facebook ad campaigns over the past couple of years and in my experience the conversion IS better than Google BUT only for new products or at least Ads that target differently.

Facebook burns niches very quickly so if someone else is promoting the same product on Facebook and to the same Demographic you should look elsewhere. However if you have something new or you want to test who is responding to your advertising then Facebook is a great source of investment before going to Google/Yahoo ppc or similar.

I have often used Facebook Pre-Media Buy to test my Demographics. This was a successful and cheap way to find my best target market.

You should also look at other Social media advertising sites like MySpace, Ning, YouTube etc... All of these guys can also provide you with Social Media Advertising.

They are two completely different programs, just happen to be
both PPC, although you have the option of CPM on facebook.

Google runs your ad on search results, adsense pages, and every
other service google owns. That's billions of potential customers.

Facebook runs your ad on facebook.

It is not a very good comparison.

Instead of facebook, I would find a very high-traffic site
that was useful for my niche and buy ads on it.

Facebook has the potential to gobble up some other sites and
expand, but only in the last couple of months have they even
had a positive cash flow. That's a long way off.

I've always said, if you want to socialize, use social websites. If
you want business, use a business.

I normally run my FB ads as PPC and once I find what converts best I switch them over to CPM

That keeps the price nice and low

In my honest opinion, I don't think this is an apples to apples comparison.

Facebook is very targeted, but very narrow as well. Once you have targeted a particular niche on FB, you will have to come up with a different offer to get their attention again.

Google on the other hand is very wide and there are tons and tons of inventory available for you to target.

I have been able to be successful using both platforms, but I think they both present different issues and you should really understand your market as well as the platform you are using to reach them.

The Gurus are always going to pitch something as "The New Hot Thing" because that is what sells products.

In reality anytime you can get in front of your target audience regardless of how you do it or what channel you use, it's just a numbers game.

The better you are at closing the sale, the more money you will make.

Of course if you can't convert any of them into buyers, you're dead in the water anyway.

            It's simple as this: Traffic + Conversions = $$$

Then there are two things to worry about:

            1. If you can get the traffic cheaper than it cost to convert it, you will make money.
            2. Or you can focus on increasing your conversions and not focus on how cheap the the traffic source.
            It's not rocket science.

The gold is in the data.

You have to be willing to spend money when buying traffic to get the data to determine how to optimize your campaigns whether you are using Google, Facebook, Media Buys, CPV, etc.

Every marketing channel has its specific little quirks that make it different from another.

At the end of the day, you just need to get in front of your audience and close the deal.

$.07 facebook clicks...nice! I can't seem to get clicks for any less than $.30 so I stopped using them. I figure people go to google looking for something but people on facebook aren't really looking for a specific thing even if that is one of their hobbies or whatnot. But I hope they keep telling people to leave google so there's more for me there!

There is no way you can compare adwords to PPC on facebook.
Just can't do it. They are not even close to the same animal.

Saying google adwords is just another PPC is like saying Michael
Jordan was just another basketball player.
