Promoting Affiliate Sites

I've had good success over the years with websites and driving traffic to them and converting them to sales. I have never had an affiliate site through Clickbank or any of the other prominent companies. I've always been uncomfortable with a site that I have no control of the site or the content.

My question is this... I'm going to wade into the affiliate site waters now. With sites I've done in the past, I've used article sites, video sites, press releases and backlinks from high PR sites to drive traffic in addition to having quality content. Should employing this same strategy have the same success even though I have no control of the actual affiliate site?

Let me thank all who respond in advance. There are so many braniacs on this site that really know their stuff...

    Hi Harold,

    If you can bring your landing page on top og Google with highly targeted keywords, I can't see a failure with Clickbank... If you really want to do the affiliate thing, you must ignore that "control of site content" thing..

    The only thing I can suggest with CB is, promote generic products, not specific...

    Example:
    Article submission software

    There's a lot of article submission software in CB. Create a landing page about this product and promote only one. If your landing page start making sales but you targeting refunds, change the product (still article sub software but different author)... You will notice which product/website is doing well...stick to that product...

    There's a lot of low-quality products being offered at CB and we must be careful sometimes promoting a certain product or may end up wasting time..

    AFD's suggestion is what i am doing right now, i am actually promoting **** berry products in general and sign up to one of the popular **** berry provider, just in case this provider is twisting the business modal or going offline, i can still promote acaiberry product from other company. I hope i am on the right track
