Hi,

I was just wondering if there is a way to estimate roughly what kind of traffic certain websites are getting?

Alexa is not the most accurate source as far as I'm concerned.
Is there any better way to do this? I desperately need it to complete my competition research.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

JJ

Try google webmaster for your purpose. Try finding some tool which could help you to see the traffic for your desired site. If you find some tool kindly update that tool in this forum too.

Compete.com & Semrush. However, I've noticed that numbers on these sites are much less than what I actually have for my sites. I know this because google analytics gives you exact figures, and these 2 sites give much lower numbers.

Take a look at Quantcast.com if the site is a big one, but if it a small site they are not much help.

    Hi,
    Thanks for very useful info.

I'm aware of the quantcast, semrush and compete, yet these are I believe "panel" based web services, that show you a very rough estimation (for example my site is position 700k, and has ~ 200-250 unique visitors a day. On the other hand Quantcast is more to "measure" what kind of audience your competition is catering to.

My other site is position 1,2 mil and has around 10 visitors a day. As you see it's quite far from being exact numbers. This is why I'm looking for a better tools to do this.

And regarding PR. If I'm - let's say - in erotic clothing industry (which google DON'T LIKE) my site can have 2000 visitors a day, be super clean, useful, and with great conversion rate, but google will still give me max pr of 3. The same site about pregnancy tips and games for kids, or social help will have pr 5-6. So PR won't tell me much about the REAL number of visitors on the site.

@repplanet: does google webmaster tool show you this kind of data for you competition? I have to admit I'[m not using google wemaster so it's probably the high time to start doing it.

    Many thanks for you help

Just checked statbrain.com - showed that my site has 1,4k visits a day
Not exactly the truth. I wish I had and I'm sure it's going to happen. But for today it's around 200-250

    Thanks anyway
