Market Samurai - How do you search for your keywords?

Ok so I purchased market samurai today and after playing around looking for keywords it has left me really confused.

The past few months I used the google adwords free tool and I like to think I got decent at finding keywords to target. I always used the "exact" option when searching for keywords.

So today I am searching on MS and it when you analyse the keywords at first it has broad match selected, I get some nice results. I change it to exact and only about four keywords has over 1,000 searches the rest of the results are looow. I had the same results for an hour, I decided to check on the google keyword tool.

I know MS is supposed to pull its results from google (so i believe), I type the same keywords into the google adwords tool and select exact. One keyword that showed 1,500 in MS is coming up with 5,600 in the google adwords tool . In MS I am targeting all countries and territories so I don't get it.

I am beginning to wonder why the results are so low in MS. I might be missing out on good keywords because I disregard them with the low search count in marketing samurai, when the adwords tool shows the opposite.

In one of the keyword MS tutorial videos he only had broad match selected but puts 15 in the broad-to-phrase. However this is an introductory video so I do not know, but it's tempting to follow those numbers!

I seen a lot of people raving about MS and I know it is a great tool but...If its so good when you use it, what process do you use to find keywords? Broad/Phrase/Exact? I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks,

Andy

MS does scrap it's results from Google but what it does from there is beyond me. I believe that MS has some custom algorithms going on that the Google adword Tool doesn't to give the users a better insight of the keywords. Hope that helps.

Yes, this is also one of the differences between Market Samurai (daily figures) and Micro Niche Finder (monthly figures).

Yes I was wondering why nearly every keyword I looked into was so strong!! Lol anyway I can relax now and get on with everything as it's all become clearer and seems a lot easier to take on the competition.

          Thanks

that took me a while too;-)

I now use GAKT for all my keyword research and once I've figured out what keywords I'd like to analyze for competition, only then do I go over to MS.
MS is just too slow to quickly test combinations of new words, you can't easily add them to a list, ...

here's a tip you'll love to find new keywords with GAKT:

when you click on the 'website content' button, just under the URL box
you'll find the text 'Or, enter your own text in the box below. (optional) '

click on there, a new box opens and you can enter search-terms there. Gives you many more long-tail keywords than the main search-box.

keep adding to your list, at the end of the process export into .txt file, then into MS and off to analyse competition.

Btw, I haven't used micro-niche-finder, is that any better than MS at doing competition analysis? Drives me nuts in MS that I have to open a new window (tab) for each KW, just to check what the competition is. That's something I need to do for every keyword I select, hence it needs to be automated!

is that solved better in micro-niche finder?

        Cheers
