Screw Google (Seriously) and Questions...

I posted this in the main forum, but probably should have posted it here instead.

In any case Google is getting to be such a pain. I just had super targeted and focused campaigns in Adwords slapped big time they I have had for years. After about an hour of chat, some of the issues were simply RIDICULOUS.

One of them, was linking to another website that actually produces and ships my product. Can you believe that? They said it is a "bridge" page.

What a joke Google. Seriously. They did not want links from my site going to other URL's. What???

Looks like it may be time to simple ditch Adwords and Google Adwords altogether. What a sickening feeling it was to discover this today. It is almost like I just lost a job, as it is the same because of the loss of such a huge chunk of my income will be affected.

Does anyone know if their "Quality Score" also plays a part in their search engine rankings as well for sites, or is that only for Adwords?

Also, has anyone had luck getting your same site and URL BACK running in Adwords after being slapped or is it best to start with a whole new URL?

Thanks!

I think rather than throw the baby out with the bathwater is to re evaluate your position, you may need to swing the cat another way and i can see your pixzzled at it but you still have an account and can still operate and make profits / keep that income.

Did G indicate if the listed problems were fixed if it would fix the score ? on the surface if you have some control over the land page site you should be able to fix it ?

that would then depend on the product being G feindly , but if so it should be possible, if you could get G to confirm if or what changes would be needed it would help as well.

For one, they said I could not link to another site. What the link was, was a order link to a third party Print-On-Demand publisher which prints and sells a book. They said it was a "bridge" page. Well, how in the world should I do it then? That really peeved me.

But you are right, guess I need another approach at it.

Just so I understand correctly, you have a physical book and when taking orders, you have this POD service which prints and ships the book.

That link to the POD, it is a sales page to the book or an order page that simply asks ordering information (address, credit card)? Maybe you post the link to your site so we are clear and maybe offer better advice.

To echo tryinhere, reevalute your position. You still have a working account, don't throw that away. Google rules and policies are there for a reason and really not that bad at all. The bridge page rule is likely the one most advertisers break and so easily fixed. By the way, all PPC search engines have similar rules so don't think you'll do better elsewhere or hurt Google's feelings by taking your business elsewhere.

As for QS, it has no bearing on natural rankings. PPC and organic are two separate entities.

Yes, it takes them to a page on the POD site that has a few details on the book, and an order link to click on their site. Google is calling this a "bridge" page and is not allowing it.

As far as Adwords, would this idea work better for long sales letter landing pages for my ebooks...

    1. Have one main website for the particular niche. (ex. dog-training.com)
    2. Create pages on this domain that each have a particular ebook/salesletter (ex. dog-training.com/programs, dog-training.com/dog-houses, etc.)
    3. When using adwords, point my targeted keywords to the appropriate ebook pages in step 2 above.

You've got a bridge page. You can't have your own sales page only to have people be given another sales page for the same product on another site where you'd have to click another "buy now" button. If you have a "buy now" button on your own page, clicking on it must take me to a page where I can enter my address and billing info.

If so, change your site or send clicks directly to that other sales page.

So could I say, "Click here and visit XYZ.com (this is the POD publishing company page) to order the paperback edition" instead of the "buy it here" link I have now?

I thought I made it clear. Your "buy now" or whatever name you give the button has to open a page where you can place your order. If it's your affiliate's own sales page, that will not work, no matter what you say on your own page.

It's NOT an affiliate page I'm sending them to, it's the product page of my ebook (in paperback) at POD publisher. I do this so I don't have to have inventory, I can simply send people there to order and it can be fulfilled.

? if the page has little information and that can be conveyed in the G ad then have you tried a direct link ?

I had a big AHA moment I must say, when a most respected and successful IMer simply made the point which I read that G are not keen on Affiliates. I guess we can say the ones that aren't spending megabucks. As I mentioned in another post, they're far from averse to making stipulations that defy commonsense. It may seem on the one hand defeatist but it seems to me the prudent course is to phase them out of ones plans. They've decided they don't need us - unless I badly miss my guess

I still want to know if this is a good and viable way to promote ebooks in one niche on Adwords to meet their guidelines...

    1. Have one main website for the particular niche. (ex. dog-training.com)
    2. Create pages on this domain that each have a particular ebook/salesletter (ex. dog-training.com/programs, dog-training.com/dog-houses, etc.)
    3. When using adwords, point my targeted keywords to the appropriate ebook pages in step 2 above.

Basically, it is like a silo site, but each of the pages are my salesletters, with proper navigation and also links to other related products/articles, etc. I would just target out the individual pages and corresponding targeted keywords in Adwords.

I may not be an affiliate but it LOOKS like an affiliate.

A few things I can suggest. You seem to take orders for the ebook version yourself. Probably use PayPal or other service which you then transfer to a download page. Do the same for the paperback version but send them to a thank you page. You then fill out the order information yourself in the POD. Not the most efficient and some work on your part so I recommend this less, especially if you sell a lot. You want as much automation as possible.

Other thing as mentioned, send the click not to your paperback version's page on the POD but to the ordering page. That's Google's main sticking point. This is the part that needs to be fixed.

Alternatively, send all clicks to your POD page. I assume you have control over it. You could have your two buttons there - the normal one for the paper version, send the other to your own order page for the ebook version.
