SEO Newbie has a few questions - Who have you had success with?

Hello everyone,

First off I wanted to thank the forum in general for being so jam packed with information. Seeing people strive to help each other out has been wonderfully inspiring!

I was hoping to utilize the knowledge of everyone here to help answer some newbie SEO questions. I'm very familiar with SEO and feel I know how to do it, but getting the lusted #1 spot is something I'm not sure how best to go about doing, and being a 22 year old in college leaves me a low budget for backlinking.

Basically, I've got a website for my offline practice that I would like to use to help generate leads and interest in what I do.

It's a target market in Houston, Texas and I'm wondering who have you used to success with paid back linking? I know tons of warriors here offer their services but honestly I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options.

So please tell me, where or who should I start with?

Thanks a ton guys!

-Matt Burns

You don't really need to pay someone else to do it for you. It's honestly a lot easier than you think if you do good keyword research and study the proper way to build backlinks. It takes a lot of work yes, but once you get the hang of it, you will be glad you learned SEO.

You can learn a lot by reading through the threads here at the Warrior forum. Most people will charge you very high prices to do SEO work for you. Much more efficient to learn it yourself in my opinion.

That sounds like a very useful skill to have. Do you or anyone else have any recommendations for where to start?

I would suggest just using the search feature and typing in "SEO" and see what threads come up.

You can also go to the Digital Point forums and they have a whole section on SEO over there.

The basic breakdown though is to build links to the site you're trying to rank through articles, web 2.0 sites, etc. and make sure the anchor text of the link is the keyword that you're trying to rank for. Also you want to make sure that the sites are do-follow.

In concept, SEO is easy. It just takes a lot of work.

If you are strapped for cash, and can dedicate an hour or two per day, then think about doing it yourself.

However, SEO is a long-term strategy, and many people give up before they see results. It's labor intensive.

Whether it's to an SEO company or someone overseas, the key is to figure out what to do, and outsource it.
