How do I find a competent SEO Expert?

I have a pretty good handle on SEO basics, but I don't want to do SEO myself. I'd rather outsource and subcontract all of my SEO work. How do I evaluate a potential SEO provider--what questions should I ask, what results should I review, how much information should I expect a person or company to tell me about their process? Many individuals don't provide me with enough solid information to choose them, but some companies that seem to have verifiable results charge way too much for their services.

How much of the SEO you want done? Will you do on page optimization or you want that company to do it for you! Or do you want just the offpage optimization done?

There will be a huge difference between the two and of course in the price!

Well, "way too much" is all relative. If they achieve excellent results, it's worth paying them a decent price. I have a guy that's great; he charges $75 an hour. And he is very willing to discuss what he does and how he does it.

Your budget will dictate the quality of your outsourcer.

My company takes a $50k retainer to do SEO work but we only work on high value terms.

I'm sure that there may be some correlation between price and quality, although with seo, I don't know that that is always the case. I'll easily pay someone $75 or 50k if I believe that I will get an acceptable return on that investment. My question is how to best vet a possible SEO company.

Ask for proof, references and examples of their work.

I spent a ton of money outsourcing to a highly ranked company for a site that is not too competitive. The results were marginal at best. They did mostly offpage optimization as most the onpage was already done. They submitted regular press releases. Monthly backlink building, article submissions and some other things.

I felt they were not aggressive enough to get me top ranked for my chosen keywords. Some of the long-tail keywords they used did get top rankings, but the traffic was not enough on those to justify staying with them with my slim profit margins on that site.

You will get what you have paid for. There are many freelancers and companies who offer SEO services. You will never know if they can do your requirements unless you try, so better invest your money with the right person/company who charge a bit higher where you can make sure that they could deliver your desired output.

I would like to have a detailed discussion about your needs. I'll be happy to provide you a better package. Please see sig for more information.

For choosing a good SEO expert or company you need to see their portfolio if possible tale reviews from companies past clients.
