I'm finding lots of directories but they're all requiring me to add their link onto my front page. I'm already overflowing with over 60 reciprocal links and can't afford to add any more. Are there ANY directories out there that don't require this?

Yes, although directories are of questionable link value. Not saying to avoid them, but certainly don't rely on them. Try Digixmas http://www.digixmas.com/ They have a tool that I've been using for a couple years whenever I feel the need to do a few 100/1000 directories.

And you definitely don't want to have your page viewed as a link farm. I would stay far away from reciprocal link directories.

Thanks I will check it out.

I see other sites listed on these reciprocals yet they don't have the links up at all. Not sure how they managed that, maybe the directories didn't start out reciprocal.

going to keep looking for directories that will list me without a link back

hmm I looked at your link and it seems to be an auto submitter. I hear those are picked up by Google as fraudulent. Think I'll stick to manual submission of links. But thanks anyway!

All the recip links you do may not get as much "link" juice compared to one-way links.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. It's pretty easy for Google to be able to tell they're a "deal" more than actual interest in someone's site. I have too many already and am trying to wipe them off my site almost entirely except for 10, or 20 tops.

Most directories are not worth the value. In my 2c opinion, directory listings are the least valuable link that you can get.

You could always try and trick the link dirctories with a bit of PHP code and you soon could have heaps on 1 way links, and the LD thinks that you have given then a reciprocal links..

WARNING!! Greyhat linking method to follow ...

Something simple like posting a link on a directory that looks like :

      www.yoursite.com?id=linkdirectory.com

Now when the linkdirectory bot comings visiting, the PHP code on your site parses the value of the id and displays a link on your site for

      linkdirectory.com

Of course this is very simplistic but knowing a bit about how URLs are put together you can come up with a very successfull linking method..

      Take care

  • I'm interested in this thread, because I've seen lots of sites that will ASK you to post a link, either in the form of text link, or (more rarely) graphic link, but I think it is not always worded as a requirement. I definitely see how my own site could become a "link farm" if I put links as "suggested" by all those sites I am posting to. But I think if they don't say it's mandatory and they will be checking for back link on my home page, I should not have to worry about posting a back link. Maybe that's a simplistic view. (???)

It's true all links are not created equal. But it seems directories can give you at least some link love. The question is, is it really worth the time?

Still learning here... so thanks for the post.
