Hi.

After being indexed by google, how long is it best to wait before backlinking more aggressively (like for e.g. 300 a week) and to ensure no sandbox problems? My site has about 50+ pages of content.

Thanks.

Jim.

I personally would gradually increase the linkbuilding rate over a month and when 30 days have passed, then run at 100% capacity..

Quantity is not nearly as important as consistency.

You can build as many links as you like, however, what you've got to understand is that if you start building hundreds of links a day Google is going to think your site is really popular and then if you drop right off with your link building Google will start to think that your site isn't that popular anymore and your rankings will begin to drop.

So, in answer to your question - Get started right now. You don't have to wait, and with 50+ pages of content you can build a huge amount of links. Just try to be consistent.

Well, the backlink building rate depends on the age of your domain and age of your content
If your content is aged, say 3-5 months old an domain is 6 + months old, then dont worry keep building naturally say 100 a month should be fine and then gradually keep increasing the count and dont forget to diversify your link building efforts, get links from a variety of places, articles, directories, forums profiles, web 2.0 and many more that you come across.

    300 a week - not spammy

    300 a day - not spammy

30,000 in 12 hours - probably spammy unless very newsworthy and supported by links from authority sites.

Perhaps consider quality over quantity? I've got sites ranking (page 1) for high traffic single words with only 20 links. I've also experimented with a keyword rich domain and a shed load of links to no avail.

I sure wish we could have some real life examples of sites doing really well that say are at the 4 week point of building 10000 links per week. Until then, it is all heresy. I do know that unnatural link building is something that google does care about, and especially causes trouble when taken to extreme. Sorry to play devil's advocate here, but there are limits here, though many will not acknowledge that. Often you can get nice short term results, only to get penalized a few months later.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

The guides I've seen so far are geared more towards quantity of backlinks more than quality yet I've read that quality links weigh more than "junk links", maybe an approach that would be less penalised is a quality link.

The challenge is just finding how to get those quality links, I guess that's what makes them good quality I've got reciprocal links with a few decent sites but those too are marked down, being a link exchange.

300 a week is fine after 1 month. Remember, Google maybe take 1 day to 6 months to index the page you left the link on. Don't worry about sandbox problem for anything less than 1000 a week. Relax

I don't think you will run into penalty problems at the rate you mentioned. I do agree that consistency is key. With anything in business you come up with a day to day or weekly routine. If you treat your backlink campaign as part of your routine it will fall into a consistent pattern that Google will have no problems with.
