Squidoo still = good authority?

Im planning on building some sites using squidoo lens to test keyword traffic, and profibility. However i was wondering if google still gives good ranking to lenses. Has that change a bit since 2008-09. Or is there a better blog/article directory which google currently gives more love?

    Yes, Squidoo is still an authority site and Squidoo lenses rank better in Google for low competitive phrases.

    I still find it great for long tail keywords but it won't do anything if the keyword you'regoing for has alot of competition.

    I like Squidoo, but lately it seems like Hubpages do a bit better for me -- and as gravy I like Hubpages compensation a bit more than Squidoo.

    Squidoo has not been doing very much for me lately, my hubpages are ranking better these days but that seem to be all depending on what "mood" Google is on sometimes

    Just try with long tail keywords, lense will gets quickly to first page because still google love google pages..
