Articles dropped from Google Rankings. What should I do?

Hello Warriors,
This is my first post but I've been reading for a couple months trying learn about the IM business. The information in here is great.

I posted a few articles at Ezines last weekend and they were ranking around page 2-4. A couple days after indexing, I posted the articles to over 20 directories using a submission service. Each article linked to my site and the original Ezines article.

Today, I checked the ranking for a few of my keywords and they were not ranked anywhere in the first five pages. My question is there anything else I should do (aside from adding more backlinks) or should I wait a few days for it to reappear in the rankings.

I bookmarked all the original Ezines articles using Onlywire.

I'm assuming I chose low comp keywords (under 50K competing pages) and optimized my articles (kw density, in url, in title, in anchor).

Thanks,
Rich

That happens with a lot of articles. You could add more backlinks but that doesn't mean it will for sure rank again. You also need to look at if there are other people submitting in your niche pushing yours further down on ezine articles.

    Exactly,

The question is, what displaced you?

Sometimes Google likes what is new (hence, blogs) so if yours was #1 because it was "new", now something else is "new".

Its very normal but you would have been better off to post those articles to your site first and built backlinks to those articles before posting them to other article directories.

You can build backlinks but what I would do now is post the articles on my own site and build the backlinks there.. Toss a few hundred backlinks on them and they should rank..

It's common for them to pop up and then slip away.

If you've got a good keyword and used it well then you may have a shot at a good solid ranking by getting more backlinks etc.

Don't use under 50K competing pages as a measuring stick, or at least treat it with a big grain of salt.

I get articles sliding easily up to top 3 out of millions of pages and others can't break first page out of 10K.

The only competing pages that count are really the top 10, if they are killing it with all their off page and on page SEO then you may have a battle on your hands.

Using tools like Traffic Travis (free version) or Market Samurai can help you get a feel for how strong the competition truly is.

I find that if an article sits somewhere in the first 5 pages after the first week or two then I have a good shot at getting it moving with some links, provided my top 10 competitition don't have even more links and authority.

    You should read the thread:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

You will learn a lot from some of the top experts in articles and article directories.

James (RichJerksNet) above has an excellent post on that thread that you should read even if you are not up to reading the entire thread.

His post is #26. He has a 10 point list that you should read before you write another article.

Write more articles and post to your website - once published - submit them to multiple article directories. Ping and bookmark them.
