Hey.

I've read over some of Adwords faq's but haven't found a definite answer.

Can you place keyword insertion in your adcopy that will place the city of where the searchers ip is so that when they search it will say something like 'Boston Internet Marketing, Chicago Internet Marketing,...etc..?

Sorry if this has been discussed but I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance.

There is no such "city insertion" directive in Adwords or any other PPC service that I'm aware of. For one thing, using the IP to determine a city is not 100% foolproof.

    Two ways you can simulate.

First, you may be aware of the DKI directive (Dynamic Keyword Insertion). For this, you'd have to create a keyword for each city you want such as "Boston Internet Marketing". Of course, this works only when the searcher types the search term that way and is not exactly what you had in mind.

The other way is to create a campaign that targets each city. So say you create a campaign and select Boston as the geographic targeting. Your ad could then have Boston in the ad. It would be hard coded of course and the same for each city.

Or forget about hard coding the city in the ad. A fifth line will appear below your ad under the display URL and show "Boston, Mass" for all searchers in that geographic target. Makes it appear as if you're local to them. Of course, Google uses the IP for that and as mentioned, it's not 100% accurate.
