Can someone give me some suggestions please for how to move my wordpress.org blog up from position 10 to between 1-5 for the keyword 'Genewize'.

Here's the page - Genewize: Get Your Genewize Questions Answered Here.

We're doing article submissions with back links - 25/day manually.

Linking videos and other sites.

Any other suggestions?

I see her sig file, it has Genewize as the text that points to her domain name?

      Am I missing something here?

Question - is it always best to use 'Genewize' in the anchor text when I do back links? Or is it the same if I just post links to the site in various places around the internet.

cos most of them are visited a lot = visitors to your site.
and they're classed as authority websites, well, most of them.

Thanks a lot everyone, and in particular Easy Cash - I'm learning a lot and will investigate the silos of content even though it seems a little confusing at first (it all does!).

As far as domain names go - Genewize does not allow distributors to use their name in urls otherwise, that would be a great way to go.

Also, the clarification about the free classifieds makes sense too.

    Go to Blogger Search

    Type in 'Genewize'

    Find Blogs about 'Genewize'

Put your comments in the comments section.

Look for 'Do Follow' Blogs and do the same thing.

Use anchor text when you can.

    Another 2 tips.

Register 3 or 4 domains with 'Genewize' in the domain name.

Point them all to your Main Site.

Register them in different countries on different servers.

Chances are if you have 'Genewize' in the domain name this will rank better than if you don't.

Create as many free websites and blogs as you can - all pointing to your main site.

Sorry - I meant host the domains.

If you are outside the US you can easily do your own country and .com - but if you are inside the US it may be a bit harder.

There are others on WF that have registered other domains in other countries - but not sure how.

More importantly - get the keyword in the domain name. This should make a good difference.

I find posting in decent page rank blogs that are related to your niche helps.

Maybe, increase the keyword density on the page.

If you type in 'the gene collective' into google - you can see your page comes up No.1

If you type in 'gene collective' you can see it comes up No 2.

You can see how important the domain name is to the search engine.

If you had 'Genewize' in your domain name - this would give the new domain name significant strength in the search engines.

Then - with all the backlinks you are creating - you said 25 articles a day, which is heaps, you should easily be able to get the domain higher in the ranking.

You could concentrate on the new domain name - create backlinks for it or your existing one

    thegenecollective.com

and then link it to your new one.

Either way - they should eventually rank relatively well and you may find the one with the 'Genewize' keyword in the domain name eventually overtake the older one.

    Sorry -

    One last thing.

How you structure your site is important.

I note your site looks like it is 2 layers deep.

You should structure it in 'silos'.

Do a bit of research on this and you will find out lots about it.

It is also called Latent Semantic Indexing.

    Check out seo2020.

But basically - store each seperate topic of your website in a sepeate 'silo'.

A bit like - wheat in one, flour in the other, water in the other - basic example but I am sure you get the idea.

Then only link each 'silo' back to your homepage and be careful where else it links.

    Split your topics up.

    For example:

If you had a website on dogs.

Your home page would be 'Dogs'

Silo 1 might be 'black dogs'

Silo 2 might be 'white dogs'

Silo 3 might be hairy 'dogs'

    etc etc

You would not link the 'hairy dog' silo to the 'black dog' silo - but link both back to your homepage only.

Your current website looks as though a lot of topics are mixed together in the one folder.

Put pages that are of the same topic into the same folders.

This should also help you in your rankings.

You may have to reconfigure your site - but it is worth the effort.

Hope you got something out of this !!

    Hi,
I am trying hard to get a term ranked from 30+ to go to page 1 too. I am focusing all my efforts in article marketing now. GOing natural is the best in my opinion and is well agreed by many people. SEs loves content and especially in-context links. You can have them submitted with your targeted word in the content body.

Here what I would do to get in top 10:

      1. Link to other pages of my site as well. i.e internal page. I'm not sure if you are already doing this, but don't only submit with a link back to the home page.

      2. I'm not sure if you can post like a blog on your site (seems to be a blog to me), but if yes, try to post every single day.

      2. Get links to your site from other blogs (and sites) in your niche. Just contact them and tell them that you wrote an article for them with a link back to your site. It works well.

      This should help.

      All the best,

I strongly suggest you submit your blog to some of the top blog directories such as botw.org (blog section) - this is $50 bux but worth it. Blog catalog is a really great free directory that should help alot. Try a few others as well, just google blog directories. Focus on one's with high PR. This should make a big difference once your blog is accepted and your blog is reindexed.

    - Join those forums which are directly related with your niche and use their signature.
    - Start blog posting comments on your niche
    - Use Directory submission - but should be of high quality (cheap is dangerous)
    - Put original and unique contain before anyone can put.

These are the tips which I am using and now my blog at 3 on Google against the compettion of 11,800,000 pages.

    Best of luck.

You sound like you're heading up the rankings fast, so it may just be a matter of time before you get where you want to be. Age is not a huge factor in Google, but it is a factor.

I especially thought that Easy Cash had some great advice to give you and I wholeheartedly agree with it. I probably wouldn't normally have added anything, but I've been working a lot on optimization for one of my own blogs lately and I've had some interesting (good) results.

What I've found, that I thought might apply to your site, is that as I've concentrated on improving my rankings by improving my content relevance for long and mid-tail keywords my rankings for my main keywords have improved as a consequence. I think this has to do with two things - first, as I look to Google to tell me what my site is most relevant for initially and respond to that and strengthen my ranking for the phrases Google says I'm relevant for, Google has rewarded me. Second, as I work on adding more content for related topics I'm also adding more content, period, and Google loves it.

I don't know if I'm going to upset anyone by saying this because apparently we all know that Google loves backlinks with a passion, but ultimately it is content that is king. With this in mind, I noticed that your posts are very short.

Do you have Google Analytics installed on your site? If so (or if you are using something similar that tells you what organic searches are bringing traffic to your site) take note of the long and mid-tail keywords that are getting traffic and write more posts with these keywords in the title, then write articles with these keywords in the title using anchor text for these keywords pointing to the post rather than the home page. This will fortify your relevance for these long and mid-tail searches and get your post page ranking highly, which will in turn boost your main keyword rank and home page rank as well.

Also, write some longer posts, that is, posts that are pushing the 2000 word mark. Use your main keyword in the title, the first paragraph and the last paragraph and use anchor text in the first paragraph pointing to your home page. Then let the search engines find relevant long and mid-tail phrases in these posts... and respond.

Finally, build a hub of various high PR sites to link back to these posts (ie Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger, EZA, GA etc). And if your can find some forums, post in these with the long and mid-tail keywords in the post title with a signature link pointing back home.

Also, you could try some commenting on .gov and .edu sites with blogs.

I guess it's a flow on effect that you're looking for that will mean that you are strengthening your rankings exponentially by ranking for lots of relevant phrases, all pointing back to your main phrase. This will solidify your main keyword rankings when they do rise and your competition will struggle to knock you off the top spot when you do get there. Good luck.
