"Miffed" is an understatement!

I've made the acquaintance of a webmaster with a string of Adsense sites with PR4... all created just 3 to 4 months ago! Needless to say, they don't have a lot of content.

My main site is 4 years old and has tons of totally original, quality content along with 4 years of linking, bookmarking, article writing and all that goes with it. I work very hard promoting my site. Google and the others obviously see value in it because it has many excellent search positions.

But it's still at PR2!!!

What gives? I know that page rank isn't all that important but there are still many good, competitive keywords that I don't rank for no matter how hard I try. PR3 or 4, however, could be what it takes to tip the scales in my favor in these cases.

I just don't see how there can be any sense at all to the ranking system and it should be axed if it's this unfair. This new webmaster may be super-good at linking but it's simply physically impossible to do what it should take to outrank my site by so much in such a short time.

PR is all about links - he's probably just using a more effective link building strategy.

You can get PR 4 in a few months just doing effective article marketing.

It seems like you need to revise your link building and focus on less links that carry more weight. 20 PR6 or 7 links are worth thousands of low PR links.

Just like Andy says - you're likely in need of higher quality links to get the PR up, whereas you may have many low PR links now.

Another important factor is link diversity - make sure they come from different sources, link to different elements of your site and look for a few high pr links.

    Cheers,
    Kris

If you think that Google does not realize people are paying for links and getting them in directories set up especially for helping you out---- Your wrong... Look, I can teach you a better way or I can show you a better way or I can do both--- Hit my sig and get both!

I hate to be going against the grain here - but I really wouldn't worry about PRs anymore. Matt Cutts pretty much doesn't give them that much weight.

I've seen so many sites that are ranked on the first page that may have a PR of 1 or 2 in competitive niches.
