I am working on a niche wordpress blog that will have somewhere between 75-100 posts when I finish. I was wondering what is the best backlinking strategy for a site like this... Do I need to backlink to each individual post or should I just focus on the main domain?

Thanks for the help!

    You should spread your links around the site. Do not just put them all on the home page. If you want some good places to get backlinks PM me.

    You need backlinks pointing at every page that you want ranking.

    It's good to have a very diverse backlink profile, so spread them all out.

    Things like;

    - Articles
    - Videos
    - Social Bookmarking
    - Blog commenting
    - Profile links
    - Directory links
    - etc,

    Some of the above links hold much more weight than the others, however, it's good to have a "natural" looking link profile so I generally try to get links from all of those sources.

    I'd try and optimize each post (or post category) for a specific keyword, or two.

    Everyone is definitely right that spreading the links does appear more natural, but with a blog of that size I'd focus the majority of the efforts on the home page and hope it bleeds PR to each post over time.

      Remembering this key factor helped my alot....Google ranks each page seperately by itself....and not the website as a whole. You can link each page internally to help spread the link juice but backlinking to each page will determine that pages spot in Google.

    Great advice above - make sure you point to the inner pages. What I do is work on getting the backlinks to the pages that I think will be the most profitable for me.

    I think it depends on your keyword which you want to rank for. As an example, you can use your blog posts to rank for different keywords, then use backlinks to the individual posts but the drawback here is that you have to exhaust some time building quite a number of backlinks for each keyword or you could spend money outsourcing if you want.

    But if your main page is good enough, then concentrate your backlinks to main page. If your site is neatly done and user friendly, most visitors will naturally explore.
