when researching a new project and keywords what factors do you look at to see how easy or hard it will be
The amount of results google give back
The mount of backlinks top sites have
The PR of competitors sites

    It varies so much...its really hard to put numbers to those kinds of things...but what you are looking for is if the sites in the top 10 in google are authority sites like wikipedia, amazon, or other big sites and if there are also articles from the article directories or other web 2.0 sites showing you that the competition is not all big authority sites and that you can get on the first page with a little bit of work.

    One of the things I ALWAYS look at is the pages that are currently on page #1 of Google. If the page is full of authority sites then I generally leave it alone. If, on the other hand, I see an article on there or an affiliate review page, I know I can get up there pretty quickly (generally).

      having a keyword rich domain helps as well, a lot of times you can rank for several word variations for one domain.

        I usually look at the number count of pages in Google - Phrase and Allintitle.

        Then look up the Top 10 sites for backlinks information to learn more details...

    I usually face Google Dancing, like in recent my website was at number 13 position but suddenly it drops down to number 23...this is really a difficult phase for me

      I have had mixed success with SEO
      SEO for Dummies was the 1st IM book I ever read
      I got a friends site to no1 for this main key word (its in the top 10 for others aswell)
      It was an offline business that was generating him 1.500€ a week at one point
      I only got 200€ for the design

      I also redesigned a site for an other client that was at no1 aswell

      All where keyword rich domains

      When I went to do my own site using the same strategies I failed (big time)

      I have another site that I have just outsourced link building to so I hope and pray that will work
