Alexa Rankings

Hi,

i do have some sites and they rank from 27,xxx,xxx to 1,xxx,xxx in around 3 months.

after it reach 1,xxx,xxx it seems longer to rank to 9xx,xxx =X I don't know the reason behind how alexa ranking works

Is it a good news? How long do I need to generate rankings around xxx,xxx to xx,xxx? Or it will be ranked that way by sending massive traffic to it?

  • My advice is to ignore Alexa rankings completely - they're irrelevant to your business.

    Don't waste your time watching something that has zero relationship to your revenue. If you want to watch something look at how your visitors find you and what they do when they get to you.

  • Here Andy is right, however if you really want to get higher in Alexa ranking, I would suggest you to focus on the traffic who uses Alexa Toolbar. The more people visit your site with an Alexa toolbar, you will have higher rank in Alexa ranking.

    This is was what I discovered just couple of months before and now I am standing with my site of 1xx,xxx Alexa rank.

    • If you decide for some crazy reason you care about your Alexa rank - you can buy tools that will blast your site with 'traffic' and change that number to anything you want - but it's a complete waste of time.

      There are plenty of programmers happy to sell misguided people tools for changing their Alexa rankings. Some of them are designed so that they also have a useful purpose so at least get something that will actually help in some other way if you do.

      The numbers are meaningless and focusing on them is a distraction from doing something profitable instead.

      Go for it if you want, I'm just trying to save you wasting your time.

  • It's true. I have numerous sites at the 60,000 - 70,000 Alexa ranking mark and those sites do not get the kind of traffic that people would imagine. As for gauging traffic numbers using this ranking system, I wouldn't bother. It is pretty much useless.
  • Right from the beginning of my IM i have never cared about Alexa because i know it is waste of time i just devoted my valuble time to improve my revenue by working on the main methods to generate visitors...
  • Alexa rankings doesn't count much in your work, they have there own algorithms to judge the website....

  • Alexa rank only to browsers who install their toolbar.
    Try to install alexa toolbar and make your site in the
    homepage of your browser, you'll see a big impact in
    your ranking. I even check my awstats and many
    keywords was not there in the list. Also, some of my
    websites with thousands of daily visitors only rank
    1 Million compare to some of my sites that only hundreds
    of visitors daily and has less than 1 million rank. Don't
    take the ranking seriously.
