Hi....

Just want to know....
When we are searching for keywords,is it more important to

get keywords with low competition..

or get keywords that have competing sites with low amounts of backlnks

Because when i am using market samurai some keywods with only 30,000 competing pages..
have sites with like 10,000 backlinks.

any help is greatly appreciated

There is a trick to getting that amount of back links, do some relevant commenting on blogs that have dofollow allowed.

If you find a large site with it enabled you will find that as you comment your posts will get picked up by the search engines and more importantly so will your website field...so on every page that shows recent comments you will find your link.

I commented on a blog 2 weeks ago and got nearly 300 back links from there alone

Generally speaking if there is no competition it means there is no money to be made since no one is looking...so get a good domain name and branch out

Go for the keyword with 30,000 competing pages. Sparhawke is right. A certain keyword has competition because certainly it has searches. If you will go for your good keyword, the results will be more worth it rather than doing it in the low competition one. Hope you get the point

Well are the backlinks unique? or are they just inner pages of the site? When you are looking as SEO, not all backlinks count but links from unique IPs are more important...

So it is better if you can figure the links are coming from the same sites or just their inner pages.

both really ......but depends on how long you are willing to wait to see results in the SERPS.

It really doesn't matter how many competing websites there are for a competing term. The only competition that you need to worry with is the top ten in Google...that's what you will find in Market Samuari.

If the top ten spots have an enormous amount of backlinks that are high in PR and they are quality links then you might want to rethink the keyword phrase and dig in a bit deeper to find a lower competing phrase.

Or in plain English you will have to beat out what ever the competition shows in the top ten. If the top ten spots show 100 PR 4 backlinks then you will 101 PR 4 backlinks.....if they have 10k backlinks then you will need 10k plus one to beat them out.

It really all comes down to the top ten spots....don't freak out on the rest of the sites.....if there were 10 million sites competiting for a site and the top spot only have 5 PR0 backlinks and no PR then you could beat that out in 1 day...ha-ha.....hope you see the difference....

The amount of searches will determine the value to you in the form of potiential traffic to your site in the #1 spot in Google....
