Backlinking - what works for you?

I have been planning to start building backlinks to my new site. Before i put myself into this relatively time consuming task, i thought i would ask some questions from ya...

Thus far i know about followin main methods of building backlinks

- article submission to article directories
- submission to website directories
- social bookmarking
- forum and blog commenting

It will be great if you can share case studies and experiences with building backlinks. What should i emphasize most on? What would usually bring more tangible results, in long run?

Any guidance and info shared from fellow warriors is much appreciated....

At the moment, I use the following:

    • Article marketing
    • Backlink packets from a couple of warrior members
    • Article Blueprint (article spinning and submission service)
    • Blog Blueprint (blog comments service)

All together, I'm getting good results. It's hard to know what specifically is getting the results, but I know that the more I do the more it helps.

If I could only do one thing it would probably be articles, specifically EZA. As well as 2 backlinks for every article, you also get the direct traffic from each article.

Actually, it isn't really outsourced. You still have to write the comment and put your link in. The people at Blog Blueprint then appraove your comment (they'll approve anything as long as it isn't "adult"), and post as many as 20 a day to their own relevant blogs of page rank 3-5.

I would also higly suggest using Traffic Geyser. They are currently offering a $1 trial which will allow you to use their services for 21 days. Just remmeber that they will then charge you $97 so don't forget to cancel if you don't like it.

It is a video distribution service which also automates article submission to some websites. Traffic Geyser: Get Top Search Engine Listings in Google, Yahoo and MSN Within Hours . The video will explain a few things for you.

I must agree with you! However, don't just rely on one type of links, try to get more variety of link types, that would greatly help your site rank.

Profile link building and blog commenting work well at initial stage
After building links with that, start building links with article marketing and post articles to blog post not in directories.

I use sig links (this one always surprises me) in forums, blogs, article marketing, and a few social BM sites like Digg and SU. I also go the Social Networking way to get referral traffic from Twitter and Youtube.

I just submitted my first article to EZA and it was accepted, which is pretty exciting. I'm also trying to do a few relevant blog comments each day. I'm really trying to keep it relevant so I don't feel sleazy about it.

Creating something viral can help you gain backlinks. You can create a quiz, picture, video, etc that gives a backlink to your website when someone links to it.

  • I've been using the following sources and having really good success:

    - Buying pagerank 3+ blogs and writing posts on them for my targeted sites
    - Creating web 2.0 sites, writing relevant articles, and link to my sites
    - Writing EZA, PRLog, Article etc. sites and linking to them
    - Buying dropped domains with age/pagerank from domainbroadcasting and writing articles and linking to my site
    - Buying blog posts on payperpost
    - Submit all of my sites to blogcatalog

These are the strategies that have worked for me for promoting a specific keyword SERP. I also always buy yahoo directories, and botw.org directories for all my sites.

All of the blog posts and articles are outsourced, I just manage the keywords and URLs I'm looking to promote and I place my own ads for payperpost.

they all work for me. but my daily routine for now is something like

    5 blog comments
    1 article

  • If you're looking to do your own SEO, I definitely agree with @actionplanbiz. Give yourself a small daily goal and do that everyday, over time it will all add up.

For instance, for eCommerce SEO, here's what I do:

    1. Write a new 200 word description for a product
    2. Submit the product to shopping bookmark sites (stylefeeder.com, stylehive.com and kaboodle.com)

Stay away from XRumer if you don't know about it! Most service providers don't really do a great job with harvesting good links. When you find one, stick with him.
