Should I vary my anchor text

When linking back to my site should i be varying my anchor text?

At the moment i am building backlinks to my site and after watching a video last night i have been left in a quandry.

I am using the same anchor text when doing my backlinking as this is the keyword that i want to rank for. However in this video it said that google does not like the same anchor text pointing back to a site hundreds of times. It was suggested that words should be added at either end of my anchor text to vary things.

So say for instance that my main keyword was "build muscles", if I added words to it for instance build muscles now or how to build muscles would I still rank for the keyword build muscles.

I hope the above makes sense and would love some direction from fellow warriors on this.

Regards

Kim

Speculations are just that - speculations.

What we want are the results, and I have the results.

It's up to you to decide if you want varying anchor texts. However, I use only one - my main keyword. And yes, it works. I'm on the top position.

I've tried both ways - to tell you the truth - it's much better for me at least to mix it up a little.
