Can you use Blogger on a cheap .info domain, or will they still nuke it?

Not me. But google has been really active in inspecting these blogs. I have heard a lot of statements that their accounts are blocked. A gmail account should certainly have 5 blogs maximum only.

Not me, but I don't market on Blogspot anyway. Previously, I did. But now I'm hosting everything myself.

I've heard this too - they removed one of Tiff Dow's the other day and she blogged about it as a warning. I prefer to self-host and use WP to avoid this kind of issue.

It's just like when Squidoo did a big clean up and wiped out a whole heap of spammy lenses. Problem is that sometimes the 'real' stuff gets lost in the cross fire.

I've lost 3 non-spam blogs this way. I only have one left (my most important one) and I worry it will disappear every day. I've thought about moving it, but I would lost my readers because once it's gone, you can't exactly do a redirect.

the best thing in this instance is to start your new blog, host it yourself and start redirecting your viewers to your new blog site.. those who really like your content will follow you... it would be better to do this, than to have the entire blog wiped out and have no chance of informing your readers where they can locate your site. If you have an optin list, you should have a list of your viewers/followers anyway, and if you don't have an opt in list, you should.

Feel free to check out my block via my signature for some also FREE and very good tips about how to blog and how to do so via your own server, etc., Hope this reply helps.

If you promote that you are moving sometimes your reader-base will follow. When I moved my sexy high heels info site from blogger to self hosting we couldn't do a redirect, so thats all we posted about for a month solid. By the time WE deleted our blog most of our audience had moved.

So its very possible you will be able to move your site and have most of the readership follow.

That is a very good point. Likely you core audience would follow. The only thing you'd lose is backlinks, but if you are a blogger with active readers the backlinks may be of less consequence.

Most definitely. I encourage anyone who for one reason or another can't do a redirect talk about your move daily. If you have a newsletter email them weekly - get the word out and people will follow.

The key is to spread your sites out. Have your own domains on different hosting plans, different blogger accounts, wordpress acounts etc. Sites can get shut down for no reason and you don't want to have your entire destroyed overnight.

Yes, one of my friends has lost his blog the same way. He started blogging from last 2 months and suddenly found the blog disappeared. I haven't faced the problem yet but think it's better to start blogging in own domain or else word press is also good and less risky.

They consider sending traffic from your blog to your website as spam, so the key now is to find a way to send traffic from the blog to your site but have it not LOOK like thats what you are doing.

I have 200 odd blogger blogs today I get
Your blog at http://life-insurance-claim.blogspot.com/ has been reviewed and confirmed as in violation of our Terms of Service for: SPAM. In accordance to these terms, we've removed the blog and the URL is no longer accessible
I am also locked out of my adsense acount
Can both be blocked in tandom?
Maybe I am blocked from my adsense login as it is the same email I used to register my blogspot domain?
All my other blogger blogs plus my own hosted blogs are showing the corect ads ie non public service ads.

I've heard that if you had an adroid phone, you're phone service would be toast too.

As far as less splogs on blogger, it's a good thing. Google has finally decided to salvage the the last little bit of legitimacy that blogger had left after the spam fest it had become.

You sure you are locked out of adsense? Because they are going through maintenance today.

I have over 100 blogs running on blogspot and I don't have this issue. You guys have to read the ToS because I'm pretty sure you guys are violating something.

One day, some time off in the distant future IMer's are going to start taking their livelihoods serious. And by that I mean, ANYTIME they open an account, whether it be an account with blogger, wordpress, bluehost, hostgator, ning, tumblr, digg, mixx, Jumptags, Squidoo Bloghi, slashdot, etc., and etc., they are going to take the time to read and understand the TOS and NOT ASSUME they know the parameters of the relationship.

Hint, Hint... that's why they have you agree to their TOS. Here's part of blogger's TOS for your reading pleasure.

Spam: Spam takes several forms in Blogger, all of which can result in deletion of your account or blog. Some examples include creating blogs designed to drive traffic to your site or to move it up in search listings and posting comments on other people's blogs just to promote your site or product.

REMEMBER: that's only a few examples. Another is the content test. Here is what blogger has to say about what they expect:

Blogger is a free service for communication, self-expression and freedom of speech. We believe Blogger increases the availability of information, encourages healthy debate, and makes possible new connections between people.

Translated; if your account is a squeeze page, sales page, affiliate marketing program link farm, affiliate marketing gateway page, affiliate marketing direct link page, a sales conduit page... guess what? You are violating their TOS. In summation, they want useful content.

Two weeks ago there were a number of new WF members who started and joined in on threads bemoaning how blogger unjudiciously deleted their accounts. I went and pulled up a number of these deleted blogs and each one of the individuals ranting and raging against blogger were engaging in outright in your face spam.

One blogger site got deleted because a advertiser red flagged that particular affiliate marketer as a spammer and disabled all the links to his blogger account. He didn't even know it until I showed his URL from the advertiser that was red flagged as a spammer.

What this means is that you will have to use such accounts to engage in OTB or face the possibility of those accounts getting yanked.

Christian, you may be part of a small percentage of savvy IMers who understand how to build their own networks through OTB. Congratulations!!!

It's silly to shun or bespeak negatively of blogger. Just learn the rules and play by them. I've never had any of my blogger accts deleted and have never received a warning and I have over a t-h-o-u-s-a-n-d of them.

Don't use blogspot, use wordpress, buy your own domain and host on your own server. It may cost a little bit more but you have better control.

By the way, domain only cost around $10, hosting if u use hostgator only $9.95 per month for unlimited domain & traffic. Why not?
