My site has started appearing on Google's first page of search results for my targeted keywords (there are many of them - more than 15) and often it is between 1st to 4th results on Google's first page. My site traffic is still not great (just 200 visits a day) and would like to know how to take benefit of my site's appearance on Google's first page to:
  • Increase my traffic further
  • Make money

Thanks Michael! I already have an amazon widget - "Product Cloud" installed at the site. Any tips on the ways to improve traffic using google's first page success?

Make sure that you are building an email list using Aweber, or another reputable autoresponder service. It does not make much sense to let visitors see your website once, and then be lost forever!

You want to offer some type of "free report," such as an e-book or e-course that will peak your visitors' interests. This way you are actually leveraging your traffic long term. Imagine having a list of 20,000+ people that you could send an offer out to at any given time

Also as a side note, make sure that your website is actually ranking where you think it is. Sometimes your website will show up higher due to your Google search preferences. To check your "real rankings" you can use scroogle.net (make sure you type .net instead of .com!)

Adsense, as well as adding any affiliate products are other ways to monetize your website.

First thing I have to ask is if your targeted keywords are even ones that get a lot of traffic. That will make a huge difference.
After that you need to make sure your website is inviting to people.

Me blogger you are having the right question, Most of my websites are on the top positions but I have just 200 to 300 visits a day. Monthly global search volume of that keyword is 45000 (Google Adwards) but I have just 200 - 300 visits. Why?

Concentrate on your page titles and description tag. Catchy page titles will reel in those visitors, especially if you are on the first page.

      Hi meblogger,

Getting on the first page of SERP is only half the battle for traffic. To capitalize on your good rankings you need search users to click your listing.

You need a very compelling text snippet to go along with your page titles to make your search listing irresistible to searchers. I like to use AdWords campaigns to test a variety of emotional benefits and call-to-action statements. Once you find the overall best converting ad text you can incorporate that into your meta description tag to improve your organic search click through rates.

AdWords is also useful for testing which keywords convert best. Of course it's smart to do your testing before launching your SEO campaign.
