What are your thoughts about the 5 most important elements of SEO in 2010?

  • This is another one of those questions that's coming from the wrong place - there is NO 'most important' element.

    Each niche is different and each business has things which are more or less relevant.

    You can get 100 different answers to your question and they could all be right for the person saying them, or they could be irrelevant comments which don't apply to you.

    The question is - what are the most effective elements FOR YOU.... everything is doesn't matter.
  • Get your onpage SEO done right from the start and focus on offpage SEO.

    There are factors that weigh more, but nobody knows for certain which factor is the most important. However, there are a few that are generally agreed to be more important. These include having your keyword in your domain name, having your keyword in your Title tags, anchor text backlinks, etc.

      Well written text with the keywords and related words
      Keywords in Title
      H1 tags

      Thats a good starting base. You can build on all of those from there

  • Forget everything you know about SEO in 2009 and before. That is the best advice. It's all about Social Networking these days. Get your face and personality in front of thousands of friends on Social Networks. Social Networking will grow your list 10X faster than older SEO Methods like Article Marketing. Blog Commenting is starting to be less effective these days because it is so easy for Spammers. I recommend getting connected to as many social networks as possible and doing link building through there.

    • Still need somewhere to convert the sale. In 2010 the obvious answer to that will not be a sales page (which always was clumsy).
    • I think this will work with SOME niches but not all. Of all the users for most social networks, the most active users seems to be those trying to sell everyone else something.

  • I have never seen many links from social networking sites show up when doing a link check. Aside from that the traffic you get from these sites is not as targeted as SE traffic.

    With that being said I think the most important factor will be the same as it always has to me. Keyword Research. This is the first step and the most important. The better you are at it the less you have to worry about SEO. Aside from that backlinking is the obvious answer.

  • Stick to the basics and creating pages that loads quickly
    2. Freshness (how often new content is posted or the website is changed)
    3. Links (quality not quantity)
    4. Server response time (meaning how quickly the server hosting your site can respond to the request for the site)
    5. Keyword in the URL
  • Whatever the year is either it is 2010 or 2020 the answer will be same.No Duplicate content,no spamming.Just white hat SEO techniques and quality links.

    • On page and Off page seo are the most important factors for the seo . Do quality off site and try to get high pr back links for your site to the relevant site of your niche .

    - Quality backlinks - Leaning more and more towards relevant links.
    - Consistent velocity of backlinks
    - Inter-linking inner pages - think Wikipedia
    - Social Signals
    - Consistent content - unique and curated
    - Throw some youtube vids in the mix. Google loves themselves. Period.
  • First of all you need to do proper onpage optimization which includes meta tag generation, content optimization, proper h tags, sitemap and image optimization. Once you will done with your onpage stuff, start working on link building process which includes directories (High Quality), social bookmarking, Articles ,PR, Forums and blog commenting along with social media optimization. You need to take care of link diversity as well, you can't build links with the same anchor text.
