How to get Google to Crawl my website?

A few weeks ago i had a problem with the landing page on my website!

i believe it is because the nameservers were wrong....

i think the site was crawled on the same day i had the problem!

now that the nameservers are correct i need to get the site crawled asap so the jargon in the google results dont look like they do!

i cant post a link so if anyone wouldnt mind doing a google search for (computer repair liverpool) and having a look at my result...my site is about half way down the first page..liverpoolpcrepair online.

the "online" bit at the end of the title should not be there and the text usally displayed has been replaced by some jargon about adfeedengine!

if anyone knows how to correct this with getting the site crawled or if im on the wrong track please let me know...

much appreciated!

  • Post a link on any high traffic site back to your site and you will be crawled and that's about all it takes. This site for example will be crawled over and over all day long.

Check your server stats, you will probably find google has already come back, it just takes time sometimes for it to appear in the SERPs.

    Hi

I may be on the wrong track here or pointing out the obvious but just in case, here's what I do.

For every site that I set up, I manually submit my site map or URL to Google.

Google gives you a couple of options (code to insert on one of your pages) for verifying ownership of your site after which it will crawl your site and even flag up any pages on your site that have any problems. Anytime you want to check that all is well, just visit your Google account for that site and all will be revealed. Green for OK and Red alert for pages that need your attention.

If you make any amendments thereafter, you can resubmit your URL or the amended page URL and Google will do its stuff within days, if not hours.

I do this once my first page is up (followed up with other page submissions) for two reasons:
    Quick Google Crawl
Proof that the site belongs to me since there is a date of submission

I had one of my sites highjacked a couple of years ago but having that proof of ownership resulted in my site being restored to me within 36 hours without having to go through the legal wrangle other than a quick "Cease and Desist" notice to the culprit.

Th easiest way to get Google to index/crawl your site is a link on a site that gets crawled often. Social networking sites like facebook are a good place to start.

I don't see any 'adfeedengine' wording on your site. perhaps its been updated?

If its not, just be patient, your site has already been index, your last cached is dated 17 Mar. You don't have to do anything, in fact there isn't much you can do except to wait for the next visit by googlebot. They know your page changed and will update accordingly.

Just try to relax, the bot will come.

thanks for all the informative posts guys! il have to take time to absort all the info ...

in the meantime my site has now gone all together from google and the only way im able to find it is to type the exact domain name!in to google search.. as im unable to post links here you will have to google the actual url rather than just liverpoolpcrepair as i have put in this post!

also when i do this my title and description in the google result is now showing as the 123 reg website with my url at the bottom!

if you click on the cached page this is what you see:
us3.adfeedenginefeed? and a lot of other jargon about bots etc...
the guy who previously administrated the account says that in his opinion the nameserver change has completley distroyed my meta info on the site.

although i have no knowledge of this to make a informed opinion!

i now know the site was crawled last on the 28th march!

how long would it be from the date of crawling for the site to go back the way it was assuming there is no other issue other than the incorrect nameservers..( which have now been sorted)

thanks again for all your help!

      john.

Well, google adsense ads are really not dependent on the google-search engine. Each has it's own crawler. If you have a decent number of visitors (say 1000 a day), you should be seeing more and more relevant ads quickly. If you don't have that amount of visitors yet, focus instead on building quality content and SEO.

  • Just put your site's link on a very popular site (eg: this forum, facebook, etc) because these sites are crawled everyday bu Google & your site will get picked up. Also, you can bookmark your site. That will help too.
