Ping to blog

Anyone tried using ping services to new blog to get index? I tried recently on one of my new blog at tumblr but it seem like its not working. My blog doesn't get index like it used to.

I used ping before when I started blogging back in 2009 and I'm sure it work back then.

  • To be honest when I am indexing a new wordpress blog all I do is add it to google webmaster tools and google analytics. I have always found my site indexed in about 4-5 days, which is all you need really; if anybody can't wait this long then IMHO they don't have the patience for IM.

    • #1 Make sure that your wordrpess privacy settings aren't set to private or else your blog will never get indexed. When you install wordpress this is automatically set to private.

      #2 Pinging alone isn't enough to do it quickly. You need the search engines to find a link to your blog but this can be done easily by submitting one of your blog articles to Digg, Delicious, Reddit, Stumbleupon, etc. That will get you indexed in less than 24 hrs.
