Pretty good update on my end.

All PR0s are now PR1-2.

All PR1s are now PR2-3.

Only had one PR2 that didn't rank up.

How did you guys do?

  • Most stayed the same. I think I had one go from PR0 to PR1 and another from PR0 to PR2. But, I had one PR2 go to PR0.

And that last one tends to show that PR is pretty much useless. That site has now gone from PR3 to PR0 over the last year or so, while traffic has been increasing.

    • I don't know if "useless" is the word. All sites have internal and external (toolbar) Pr. Whether you believe it or not, your site is being ranked by PR.. both internal and external.

You have to break down what PR includes that you will find it's all the basic elements of a website... So in fact, PR is probably one of the most important factors of site authority - While maybe not directly related to ranking in SERPS.

I can only imagine that if the domain was a PR3 down to a PR0 that it was a aged / purchased domain that had a PR. Did you change the content dramatically?

I had a aged PR2 move down to a PR1 with this update.

  • Most stayed the same for me as well. Not much action really.
  • Most did pretty well but had a dip with one.

    • Why PR Matters.

Google crawl in order of PR.

Therefore if you publish content based on trends.. PR MATTERS!

Mine was a bit of a disaster in regards of a couple of my sites. While others got a boost in PR but lost their place in the SERPS.

  • One stayed the same at a PR3, almost all other pages went from PR1 to a PR3. So in general it was good results on my end. However everyone, remember not to over hype PR, it is only a rank and does not guarantee traffic so we must continue to promote, promote, promote!!
  • I had a PR3 a year ago, then it went to a PR2, now with this last update it went to a PR1. Kind of weird, a page I just uploaded a month ago on it is a PR2, which doesn't make any sense. I have been looking through the site and don't understand what is going on. I do know that I just did a ton of article submissions. I don't know if that would trigger something.

On a good note, one of my other sites went from a PR3 to a PR4.
  • My pagerank is still pr3. I think I need to run more websites.

    • PR3 is pretty good. One of my auto blogs somehow went from PR2 to PR3 today. With auto fed content and no link building. I got a good laugh out of that.

      I love Googbot.. hehe
  • Well, the only site that I really care about and has been up and running for long enough is my portfolio, which went from PR0 to PR1. I guess that's good.

    • Very good.. congrats on that.

I think that Google works something like

      - You provide value to the Internet. Here's a PR
      or
      - You have a lot of High PR Backlinks. Here's a PR.
or both for a huge increase in PR

There's 2 (3?) sides to everything after all.
  • congratulation, guys...My one month aged website are now PR2 ..it's great..but..my 10 months aged blog stay PR 2..it's weird..because i always do link building...

    • Pretty much most of mine stayed the same, though I now have some internal pages with PR1-2 which is good!
  • I have lots of high quality back-links. but my PR is only 3.

    • I had one that jumped from no PR direct to PR3 som i'm happy.
  • I've got several sites that are PR 2, and they all stayed the same. I also have a site that was ranking 1 and now it's 3. Oh, and a zero that's become a 2.
  • my site's rank increase to be PR1
  • Mostly all positive, I didn't have any drops (first time ever) but some sites which I expected to gain PR didn't....oh well...until next time....however for me PR is just a little fun....doesn't really worry me too much!
  • Some of my sites went up some went down - I really don't put much stock in toolbar PR though - real PR updates on google's servers all the time, Google just updates us mere peons every few months.
  • For my website went from PR0-PR3 within 3 months

    • Thats excellent, well done!

What do you think you did that gave it such a huge boost?

      Zaheer

  • I went from a PR0 to PR 1 (3 month old site).
  • pretty good. Even my SEO test site went up which is a bummer one way you look at it. I try to test on PR flat domains so I might need another. In most cases Pr doesn't mean anything except that your backlink score is improving
  • Was it good for you? It was good for me. Want to do it again?

Personally, I find it funny how obsessed many webmasters are with PR. I could care less. What matters to me is traffic, conversions and profit. That's all that truly matters. PR can help you sell a site, I guess, and perhaps there's other benefits, so I see why some care, but as Google says, webmasters pay way too much attention to PR. Just my opinion...
  • Hey, I didn't know there was a PR update. I've never really survived a PR update before. Two years owning websites and I've always stayed PR0.

But in the past 2 months I pulled up my SEOpants and got to work.

Today I checked, for the first time ever I went from PR0 to PR2! This is very exciting for me! All I did was post in some DoFollow forums and make 2 friends in similar blogging niches, and I jumped to 2. I haven't even begun my incredible backlinking journey yet!

Congratulations everybody who ranked! I am glad to finally be in this fight =)

    • PR 0 to PR 4!? Impressive.

Even more impressive are your siglinks ... Guy&BS are your websites? Shizzam, you're well off! *bows in respect*

It'll take quite some work, but PR 5 is my ultimate goal for my pages. I'll be unstoppable!
  • Mine pretty much just stayed the same - which was to be expected because I've done little to no promotions in the last two months because I've been so busy with school and other things.
  • My PR0 domain updated to PR1 and another PR1 remains same..good to see this google PR update.

    • I've got a question for you seasoned fellows. My site that I'm promoting is a couple months old and I'm new to the whole SEO thing so I've been just promoting it how I see appropriate.

One of my main things has been to promote internal links more than external. In reality, most links have been forced to the main page, with about 30% managing to point to internal pages.

So the PR updates and all the internal pages are now PR 4, while the main page is PR2. So the internal pages with fewer links are PR'd higher than the homepage. Any thoughts on this? Perhaps a new domain just has such strangeness happen normally?
  • I got some good results in the update.
  • One of my site jumped from PR0 - PR 3.....Problem is, it doesn't have much posts and just recently turn into a mini site (will turn it back into blog)
  • My blog was on PR 2 and it remained on 2..
