Is PR really an important factor to get top position in Google?

I've seen many times that PR0 sites are able to come at top position of search result but higher PR sites couldn't. So the question is that if PR0 sites are able to come in top position of search result than why people all around the world want to get link only from higher PR sites only and not from PR0 but relevant site.

first off... you can't use multiple anchor texts with the same url on the same page. Your signature is doing it very very wrong.

now... go read some old posts because this horse has been beaten way beyond death.

    Relevance, relevance and then relevance!

In isolation PageRank means nothing, combine it with relevant links and you could be onto something.

Page rank stands for how google trusts in a site. I can't proov it but im pretty sure that page rank supports your other seo activities but means nothing alone. For example if you're link building to a high pr site, google will trust the links, even if they're not from a perfectly clean or the best source and so on.

He can, just need a lot more than if he is using one keyword!

What I meant is, he need a lot more backlinks to rank for each keyword than if all links to one keyword.

But you didn't use Advanced backlink checking tool like Majestic SEO to check for actual backlinks of that page, most probably Google have yet updated the actual page rank of that page.

And you also need to consider QDF, meaning that page is not showing for few days and then gone.

Can you define Relevance? Do you mean relevance content or links? Relevance is meaningless to me if not defined.

The problem is, he has seven links in his signature... all are the exact same URL with seven different anchor texts.

        Hi seomixi,

Google doesn't rank pages based on PR, they rank based on relevance. Primarily, PR is important in weighting the value of outbound links and sorting duplicate content.

When you learn how backlinks impact relevancy scores you will see the value of PR for backlinks. Your own page's PR is not much of a factor in ranking in SERP. PR is used to weight the value of outgoing links toward the influence of relevancy on the targeted page.

    Please define relevancy!

PR is very important to me, it helps me easily rank for any kind of targeted long tail keywords.

Relevancy is no good unless there are enough link power. Both relevancy and link power must be considered....

Page Rank is useful but its not the be all and end all. Mostly the higher your Page Rank the higher your crawl budget and the more innate trust Google have in what you are saying, but that doesnt mean your going to dominate a keyterm just because you have a higher PR than your competition. You still need to have a properly optimized site with effective on and off site SEO.

PR don't hold any more value.. Google's algorithm got changed and its the quality content and backlinks which do matter for ranking..

In my opinion relevancy is very important in increasing page rank. This is my own experience that Google notice link relevancy and content relevancy during PR updation and give PR according to content or back link relevancy for particular page & domain.
