New Site Link Building Plan

One question...

for a brand new site, which is more important... the number of links built in the beginning, or the CONSISTENCY of the number of links?

does the quantity of links really matter as long as it's consistent?

so would a new site be punished for building 50 links per day every day for months and months?

I have wondered about this too.

The amount of links doesn't matter as much as the consistency part. However many you choose to build, keep building them everyday.

Agreed. I think the best way to get most of your links discounted to worthless is to build a bunch of them very quickly and then stop building.

I have found the best results by building links consistently. I did read an article on one of the well known SEO websites that talked about link velocity which inferred that if you had a negative link velocity that your site could slip down the search rankings.

The most frustrating thing I find is waiting around for the search engines to find the links that you make.

Its consistency. Avoid huge peaks and troughs over time that could look like an un natural linking pattern when looked at as a whole. Keep a steady rhythmn baby...

Agree with both of you, btw, I'm testing Backlink Index Express, this script suppose to help you index your links faster, search the WSO section and you should found it.

Hi, personally I don't think that there is much difference between building backlinks slow or fast as long as the links are good i.e. reputable sites, high pr ones and also, as long as you have more than the #1 rank site. I once saw an affiliate site which had only one page, blog style and 2 posts. It ended up ranking 3rd (4th with indent) out 1.3 million pages. A check revealed that it had 100+ backlinks to high pr sites. I saw that on another warrior's WSO, can't remember it not though.
