Can I copy content from the web and use it to post short blog posts on my word press blog without getting a penatly?

I will have my own original content on seperate pages of my wordpress blog which I will link to, but just to keep my content fresh can I use other content already on the web?

    Getting a penalty is not the problem. Getting a lawsuit is. Here is what you can do:

    1. Goto Google Advanced search - next to the search box.
    2. Click on the link HALF way down the page that says:
    "Date, usage rights, numeric range, and more"
    3. Under "Usage Rights" select "Free to use or share, even commercially"
    4. Them search for terms in your market and you will be presented with websites that you can LEGALLY copy content from and use in your website.

    You will not get a penalty in Google for this and for keeping your blog fresh, this will be fine.

      For the long term, i would write that stuff yourself, or get a writer to rewrite it. It can be risky if the person finds out you have taken their content

    would you guys suggest just getting my writer to write 30 300 word articles about the general subject? and post em maybe 1-3 times per week?

    this seems like a better way to go

    Yes that does sound like a better way to go. You would have the advantage of having unique content. Sure there is plenty of content out there that is freely available, but usually that means it appears other places as well. When the content is your own, then it is all yours.

    Just cranking content out gets the wheels spinning, and gives people more ways to find your website
