Has nobody thought of starting their own link building site with so many warriors here it would be pretty easy to get a single page made full of links that are our own?
Would one page be enough or is that not how back links work, i know in the old days it used to be very good.

I agree. It is better if you build links in different domains and pages.

Link Popularity refers to the number of links pointing TO your site FROM other sites on the Web.
Building links is one of the most important factors in getting top placements on the major search engines

Building links through reciprocal link exchanges is a simple yet very powerful website promotional tool.
If done correctly, increasing your linkage will:

    1. Increase your traffic significantly.
    2. Improve your visibility in the search engines.
    3. Provide an added resource to your website.
    4. Save you a lot of advertising money.
    5. Save you time.

Having a single page of links may be considered a link farm, and Google may penalize you for doing this, I advise to sticking to the usual methods like participating in blogs, approaching webmasters etc.

Your best bet is to keep an eye open for who is promoting what and trading links privately.

Shane90 (post above mine) is promoting HGH, if I had a couple of pharma or health sites then I might want to hit him up for some kind of link exchange.

Networking is a very good thing. Linking partners are a very good thing. A sitewide link on his HGH site would also be a very good thing... it's a juicy PR 2 site that is probably still growing.

If only it were that easy...

Google wants to know that lots of other people find your website useful and relevant before it starts to move your site up the SERPS so you need to build natural links at all kinds of different websites.
