How to promote a niche site

Hi! I have this new site that I want to launch. The niche is pretty neat and I want to get as many ideas on how to promote it to get traffic to the site. It would also help to give some ideas on how to get back links.

      You can:
      • Submit to Web Directories
      • Submit to RSS Directories
      • Submit to Blog Directories (if blog based)
      Also you can:
      • Bookmark your URL's on Social bookmarking websites
      • Post blog comments with your URL in the URL field
      • Add your links to your Forum Profiles (signature, bio)
      Eventually you can:
      • Create some free Blogs and add your links to your posts
      You can also write articles and:
      • Post them to Article Directories
      • Post them to some Backlinking network (UAW, thelinkjuicer, linkracer, neurolinker, etc)
      • Post them to your free Blogs
      You can also get backlinks with Press Releases.

      And let the world knows about your site by tweeting, or via HelloTXT or Ping.fm

      Or get some software, or someone to do it for you.

      And I'm sure there are more ways

        As the above posters have said as well as look for forums related to your niche these can be a great place to start getting a bit of interest in your products. Though I wouldn't just sign up and promote without building up a few posts. people will take your promotion more seriously if you have some history with that forum.

        Another good way to get your page indexed and pull in some good traffic/conversions is to setup a facebook fan pages.

    *Write articles and submit them to ezine first and then to many other article directories...
    *Create squiddo and hubpages or try to build a link wheel using web2 properties

    For gaining links here are things that you can do..
    - forum and blog posting with signature links
    - article submission
    - directory submission
    - press release
    - pinging websites
    - RSS feeds
    - Social bookmarking
    - Link exchange
    - Guest blog posting
    - Press Release

    about gaining traffic, there are lots of things that you can do to advertise your sites. But I highly recommend starting with the use of social media sites.

    Also start a facebook page with full info about your site and start inviting the members related to your page..You can also do this twitter also, where you will get instant traffic from twitter.

    IMHO, you can go for article submission.

    You can write an article and optimize it for the keyword in your niche.

    Then write a second article with different content but the same subject and keywords.

    You can post one article on your site and another on the following directories with a link back to your main article on your site:

    Participation in these forums is one way website owners can promote their own niche websites. The key to promoting a website while participating in an online forum is to include a link to your niche website in your signature. The other part of the equation is contributing worthwhile information in your posts to give other users a reason to want to click on your links.

    Most niches have communities associated with them. One of the best ways to penetrate a niche is by participating as part of the community. Look for forums, blogs etc... that relate to the niche for backlinks.
