Hi

I've purchased an aged domain that I'm going to use for a specific competitive keyword that it recently ranked in the top 10 for, and wondered if there was any advice anyone had to help it maintain it's PR and retain it's serps rankings?

I assume I just follow the usual rules of quality content and link building?

Thanks in advance.

The rules you have mentioned are good but I would also have the content match what keyword is ranking in the top 10.

There are quite a lot of factors that come into play so it's always a risk.

Yeah, the content will relate to the keyword in question, which is also partly in the domain name.

      Hi Sentient,

I cannot 100% say whether the ranking will stay there as you never truly know... But if you do what you have said then you have a good chance of maintaining your ranking.

I know that where you host can have an impact too, so if your top 10 ranking was in the UK and the site was originally hosted in the UK and you moved it to the US then that could have an impact too. I know I'm probably tihnking too much into this but you have to consider these things too.

It is never fro sure whether you will keep the rank.

You have a better start than the new sites but you have to do the seo job to make your advantage work. The backlinks you have must be quality ones so that you can have the keywords on the first page. But you must check whether they are permanent or not.

Yes you still need to follow the usual rules of quality content and link building.

    Hello,

I'll create with quick information. If I start a new domain it usually takes me anywhere up to 3 months to begin ranking, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.
That's 3 months of link building, writing articles, linkbait & working. That's a lot of time.
