What is your best link building strategy?

One of my biggest issues as a SEO consultant here in Brazil (and anywhere in the world) is link building.

My main strategy here (and the one that works better) is submitting articles with my keywords in anchor text in it. But it takes a lot of work, time or money to create this content.

So, if a more experienced SEO professional could leave a suggestion here for another strategy with great results I would appreciate a lot. (it shouldn't include blog comments, directory submission, RSS or Bookmarking. I already aware of all of them)

Also, if someone is using some kind of software with great results for foreign languages I'm going to be pleased to know what this is. I couldn't find any until now.

Thanks a lot!

    Hey Gabriel, how' it going?

Personally I use my private blog network. Different IP's, different niche markets, different writing skills, different themes, etc etc.

Just one common item: 75% or more of unique content.

It's a pain to keep this going, but in a couple years we managed to build a solid network that provide us a ongoing in house backlink factory.

We also work with article marketing.

    So far, so good.

Mix it up from press releases, articles, to forums and blog posts.

    Gabriel,

There is no real short cut for link building, it does take time. I have always found that Press releases are also a very effective way to promote sites and build links. Regarding foreign language links you could do some online classified ads to provide additional back links.

Link building can be tedious, but Linkwheel services are a good start. Make sure every link you get has low outbound links on the page, and RELEVANT CONTENT! that's the #1 rule.

No prob man. A lot of people overlook this one. I'm actually considering writing a more comprehensive blog post on the topic in the future.

And if anyone can come up with any specific link bait ideas for me... I'm always open to new opportunities for traffic.

There are really three ways that I've found for building links:

    1. Pay someone on Warrior Forum to help build you links. They will make you profiles on hundreds of sites, plus spin your content and submit it to thousands of directories. It seems somewhat GreyHat, but this method does work. A friend of mine paid $80 and his blog went from PR 0 to PR 2 overnight. His target keyword went from page 4 or 5 in Google to first page, position 8 or 9 and rising.

    2. Submit your content to multiple sites. Take your articles and make them YouTube videos, Podcasts, and free PDFs, then submit them everywhere. Not only will you get terrific backlinks, you will get referral traffic as well. Remember, there are other traffic sources besides Google!

    3. Write content so darn good that people link to you. This is the original reason backlinks were created. Legitimate backlinks are "votes" for your site. Backlinks come naturally when your content is that awesome.

    Hope this helps.

Link building is not about search engine optimisation, it's not about boosting your Google PageRank, it's not about publishing a link directory and it's not about swapping links with as many other websites as possible.

 Wondering then what optimization is??

The best way to optimize website is through links, getting brand name for your website or services....Even i do not entertain exchange links and all but the other factors are important.

I want to disclaim that I do market a three day course on this subject, but I have unchecked my sig file in this post, so that I don't look like I am pimping that WSO. The answer is relevant, so I will proceed with it.

The beauty of being a Google News Publisher is that hundreds of people link to your articles every day. It is by far the easiest backlink builder there is. In fact, everything you ever learned about SEO can go out the window for Google News Publishers.

      I do agree with Jason!
If it is good stuff there is no reason to remove it.
Could you tell us more about being a Google News Publisher? How did you get there? What are the benefits (besides the obvious)? What is that exactly? Can we aim to be one?
I would be pleased to know about your course.

You Sir, are a couple of steps ahead of the rest.

Being a Google News Publisher has so many benefits it's obscene. Quick ranking, organic backlinks etc... it's pure SEO goodness.

no reason to remove your sig if it's good stuff.

    Hi Gabriel,

I'm having good luck using contractors through oDesk to help build backlinks and build organic traffic. Check out this site and think of a few keywords that you want to market. See what others are doing and try different jobs/experiments. I'm enjoying it so far.

    Good luck,

So far, the most effective linking strategy for me is:
    1. Get a feed exchange with a major site
    2. Participate in blogging carnivals
    3. Write a quality post, get that into a social bookmarking site and subsequently get your post quoted by well read sites/forums (has happened before to me - the key is to be original/informative and/or to be the first few to post on such a subject) - This is much harder than 1. and 2. though

My biggest suggestion is to diversity and buy/rent high PR links when you can afford them from low OBL pages. Just make sure as an SEO company you have the budget to deliver real results to your clients. Most SEO firms underbudget and under-deliver.
