Good Content vs. Bad Content - and adsense

I ran into a fellow webmaster the other day and he was bragging about his success of getting a high ctr from adsense. I congradulated him - then he followed up and said that he barely put information on pages and
when he wrote these pages - he pretty much "winged" it.

I was pretty amazed. I'm thinking the guy is lying because if a visitor looks at a site with not much info about the subject they are looking for - they will simply click out of the site instead of allowing their eyes look
over the google ads and then click on them.

What do you guys think? Is he lying? I think you need great, unique content on your site to further arouse the visitor's interest in the subject - and they will be more likely to click on google ads.

Maybe I'm wrong???

Theres been much discussion about this and yes surprisingly some say bad websites work better with adsense.

I think the general notion when using adsense is to write good enough content but not give them too much information as they will feel they know everything and wont need to click the ads.

Having said that a lot of people talk crap and just copy what others say so you wont really know the answer unless you test it

Just write your content and do your thing and work on getting traffic and the clicks WILL come.

I cant bring myself to do it though ..I try and write good enough content but I dont spend too much worryin about making it a paul jenning masterpiece or anything but I dont go out my way to purposely write bad content either.

I think in the case of physical product niches, this doesn't really apply - and that is one of the beautiful things about such websites.

If I'm searching the 'net to buy "rubberised hunting binoculars", it doesn't matter how much information I read on the website describing or otherwise reviewing that product, or how much reading I do. If I see very targetted relevant advertisement on that site for hunting binoculars, or rubberised hunting binoculars, the chances are high that I'm going to click.

So you see, unlike if an advertiser was trying to sell information and your website gives out all that information for free, thus reducing the visitors need or incentive to click, this doesn't happen very often when the person is reading about physical products.

In fact, the more information your page has (providing said product is good), the more that person will have a desire to buy, and the more they'll jump at the chance to click on any relevant ads (unless they already know exactly where they're going to buy the product from, which in most cases they won't - they want to shop around and find the best offers, etc).

Well, I'll like to say it depends. You know sometimes people don't quickly release their secret. But all the same, Good content on your site will give you a good result... that's it.

      Here's the thing.

Add as little or as much content as you want.
But make it in respect to what a real surfer would
      like to see.

Sites with no value to a surfer are in danger of losing
their adsense accounts. Don't be one of them.

I don't believe anyone can just add junk. You need the
adsense algorithm to display relevant, highly valued clicks.

Junk sites with junk content will not achieve that.

As Paul said. Crap content + adsense can = no more adsense or deindexed sites.

Yes this technique made money and probably still does for some. You're coming in at the tail end of the effectiveness of this techniqe.

All get rich quick seo schemes like this sooner or later run their course. This one has.

Most of you reading this probably don't care and will go onto the next trick google into ranking me well technique.

Honestly if you focus on a handful of sites and good content you do not need all the "tricks" and you don't ever worry about getting deindexed or losing your adsense account.

Of course you can't brag to the newbs about how bad ass your are.

Are you expecting them to 'tip' you for your great content? Advertisers don't like that because tippers don't convert, even if they look at the sales page.

Advertisers like visitors that convert to sales. That's why they're willing to pay for the traffic. If your traffic doesn't convert, they won't like it. While poor content doesn't generate many clicks, decent, but unfulfilling, does convert well.

Whats up with all these threads lately?

Stay within the TOS, write relevant content, and you will be fine.

Don't believe the hype. You will not get banned for writing about yellow rain boots and monetizing the site with adsense.

You do not need to write like shakespeare, just write stuff thats related to whats in your page title. So if your title is yellow rain boots, write about yellow rain boots - how they work, different brands/materials/designs, maybe a couple of reviews. Sorted.

I think there should be a good balance between what constitutes as your content vs your monetization links like adsense and affiliate links for that matter. Google hates MFA sites and will ban your account if you are caught so it is best that your site doesn't look like one.
