Here is a recently released plugin for Wordpress sites which is worth considering.

It's only been available for a short time and there have already been several hundred downloads, which actually makes it more effective.

It's easy to install. Here are the details from the download page:

This plugin registers your site with the extremeseo service, indexes all of your posts, and delivers content related links to/from your site.

== Description ==
This plugin has several functions that are all run without any effort on your part.

1. Provides your site with one way, content related, dofollow inbound links from other sites in the extremeseo network.
2. Provides links to related posts under your post content that open in a new browser window so you dont lose your visitors upon clicking the related post links.
3. Increases your site's search engine ranking and Google Page Rank by providing static inbound links to your posts from related posts on other sites within the extremeseo network.

  • Ivan,

Have you tested this plugin? If yes, what were the result?

    Tim
  • I just installed it. I will get back to you guys if anything works out...This website is in the skateboarding niche so I don't know how many other users will be able to provide quality backlinks....we'll see.

I noticed it does show you the status of your link building with the plugin. It says 0 now but I guess when you get backlinks, it will tell you how many you have within the network.

    Pretty cool I guess.

    • Hey Ivan, thanks for the heads up on this plugin. I installed today and will report back as to how well it works.

  • Be careful with automated backlink systems as they are against Google TOS. I have seen similar systems work initially and then make sites get grey barred once Google clocks it.
  • Good find, I'll check it out and report back with my findings

  • well, if it is really true with the ban of google I think reviewing should take some time
  • I put the plugin on a few niche sites.

It does have a slight problem in pulling targeted and on topic links. I suspect that is because there may not be enough blogs to pull from currently in the database. Only time will tell if the plugin takes hold and becomes popular enough to fill that void.

It trys very hard to fill in the gaps. If you set it to show 5 related blogs and only 3 are available, it will pull 2 more that are unrelated to fill the spots.

I also found the link reference from one of my other blogs showing up on another one of my blogs. That was strange and odd, neither of the blogs are related in any way. I hope that that is an isolated situation and corrects itself as the plugin becomes more popular because I really don't want the blogs to come across as a cross link farm.

    • What you refer to are reciprocal links. That is the exact opposite of what we are offering. We do not want to be associated with such campaigns as "link exchange", "link farm", etc.

Every link we deliver is a one-way, content related link. You may receive/serve links to other related posts on the same site, but you will never receive a reciprocal link on the same post. Google ranks pages, not sites, so every link is considered a one-way, the best kind. This is one of the most important features we built into the Network.

  • Excellent find.

Will try it also and report back.

    Thanks for this information.
  • Update...No backlinks so far...

  • Still no backlinks...
  • Spam central. Expect a Google ban.

    • The team behind this plugin appear to have been working constantly - at server level as well - to get this software running smoothly.

The plugin has been updating at least daily and it seems to be working much better now.

It's very easy to apply - just activate it like a normal plugin. I added 7 blogs initially but have held back with more until it has stabilized. It seems to be getting close to that.

    • Problem: Google doesn't ban
  • How interesting it may look, I see people do not quite get backlinks from it, any updates?
    • [1] reply
    • What do you mean "I see people do not quite get backlinks from it"? As long as we can match your post up with another relevant post you will start getting backlinks.

If you are referring to the stats page, we have that disabled while we debug it. Our primary focus has been making the Network stable and delivering quality links. Until we get the stats page debugged, everyone can use linkdomain:www . yoursite . com as the search at yahoo to see any backlinks that yahoo has indexed for your site. It is not real time but it will show you some of them.

  • Thank you for your suggestions and observations. We pride ourselves on listening to everyone and trying to incorporate everything into our releases. Fortunately, most of your suggestions are already in the pipe for later releases. What we are building is a huge undertaking that should really be done by a room full of programmers and database experts, but we are just a small group that has years of knowledge, but not enough hours in the day, nor are we able to bill any of the 1000's of hours we have already put into developing it. We are just a small group that has a vision of something spectacular, and will work every minute to bring this dream to fruition.
  • Hi,

Although i like the idea behind this i would not use this one on my autoblogs, or blogs in general. I think we all know what these kind of linkfarms are going to in the near future.

Almost every linkfarm type i know from the past have been penalized by Google. It could take a month, a year, but they will catch on unfortunally.
    • [1] reply
    • What do you precieve as a linkfarm?

In the past a link farm was referred to an FFA, all linking to each other, site which was very populare and did it's job...way back when...

And yeah...Google frawns on linkfarms today because they are rarely relevant to each other. I would be more concerned with link Spam. There is a difference. I don't concider a link from a relevant site as grounds of link spam either.
  • Coming from the other side of this, I have a forum that I'm constantly battling spam on. I wonder if all these people using "auto backlink" programmes ever think of all the inconvenience and frustration that their use of these programmes causes to the owners of the sites their spam lands on.
    • [1] reply
    • If the backlinks are relevant to the theme, won't these links be helpful to Google rather than counter to their user experience as it will help sites with content be properly recognized and evaluated by the search engines?

As well, the pages are receiving only 1-5 links. It is raising the hand for ranking attention. To rank well, individual pages will generally require more backlinks from other sources.

  • We have made a dramatic rewrite of the content matching algorithm, so now the links are extremely relevant. We also have optimized the database, so the time it takes to deliver the links are lightning fast. Now that we believe we have the Network running very smooth, we are going to start working on new features.
    • [1] reply
    • I can confirm that the links now appearing on my pages are very relevant. This seemed to take place over a couple of days.

At first, I was concerned when I saw some of my pages being linked to other pages on my own website (it apparently found MY website as being most relevant) but the system seems to have developed more 'maturity' and is linking to other relevant websites. I'm now very pleased with the links I've seen on the pages I checked today.

  • Thanks for posting about this, I'm definately going to check this out - it looks great if it works!
  • Thanks for the share...I will try it for sure..!!
  • Is there any review about that plugin. I want to read a review first before I'll try it. Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Here is my review: Google will ban those it can detect are using it as its against their guidelines.
  • 4 weeks nad no backlinks. I am going to deactivate this plugin it seems so spammmy

    • All of my new posts are showing relevant links to other websites.

My AWStats are also showing that I'm receiving traffic from other sites linking to mine.

The search engines can take months to report links, if at all.

I have one website which holds the no. 1 position for about 6 major keywords for its niche and Google gives it a PR0 and shows no backlinks. I know that it has hundreds of links because of article marketing and other promotions. So I don't pay too much attention to the links reported for my sites; instead I watch their performance and assess the type of links I'm receiving as I can assume the same things are happening on other sites within the system.

    • While we appreciate everyone's point of view and welcome all suggestions, posts like this and others that suggest the network is a spammy, a link farm, a link exchange, a web ring or otherwise black hat are dead wrong.

The plugin/network conforms to the basic principles announced by Matt Cutts, head of Google's anti spam division.

      • Provide links to sites that are about content directly related to your own.
      • Receive links from content directly related to your own.

This is because Google is concerned about the end user experience. They frown on sites about fishing that link to sites about online pharmacys, as well they should, but they do not frown on sites about fishing linking to other sites about fishing as this provides a good experience to the reader.

The entire Google algorithm is based on this principal. I dont think that they will care if the links are automatically delivered as long as they conform to the rules of linking which are to protect the end user.

Their golden rule that has been repeated time and time again is write your content for the reader, not for the search engines and that is how this plugin/network functions.

I dont think that Google would have any problem with the linking strategy going on here, automated or otherwise as it is not a link farm, web ring, link exchange, paid links, or anything else remotely spammy. It is simply pages showing references via links to related content to enhance the end user experience and as a pleasant byproduct of that, you get human traffic and link juice passed.

This conforms to the best practices of the web as of 2010 and is the farthest thing from spam.

As for the guy that said it diverts traffic from your site, all links open in a new window so you do not lose your reader.

We have thought this out long and hard to make sure that you are not penalized for black hat tactics, give away your readership, or link to/from bad neighborhoods.

This network is not like the others that several people said that they tried before because a network like this has not existed before. This is not a link exchange between offshore pharmacy sites and fake rolex sites. This is 100 steps above and beyond the predecessors that poorly implemented the basic idea.

To the person that said that the plugin slows down your site, we have a timeout function built in so that your page loads without the network response if we take too long expressly so we don't slow down member sites. We also add new servers to the network regularly to keep up with network demands.

I did like the suggestion to make the links appear within the post content using the word that triggered the match as the anchor text for a more natural linking style so we will workshop the idea and perhaps add it to the network.

Thank you to everyone that uses and enjoys the benefits of this plugin/network as it was designed from the ground up to provide an enhanced reader experience with SEO/Traffic benefits as well and we think it has achieved that goal.

  • Thanks for the share, just uploaded it.

Will let you know the results soon
  • I am interested for the real output from this plugin, please post results. Backlinks may take 6 months to show up, they can be seen manually when they are made. I hope someone can post the links that were created not what show up on site explorer etc
    • [1] reply
    • If you install the plugin, there is a page added in the admin panel under settings called extremeseo stats. This page will tell you how many of your posts are in the network index and it will show you the urls of the last 50 posts to link back to you.
  • Ok, I just tested the quality of this plugin on my hunting blog. The Related Links section below my posts looked good, however upon clicking on the links, I noticed some discrepencies. The first I noticed was that 2 of the 3 links Extreme SEO placed went to Custom 404 Error pages on other blogs. Another discrepency I noticed was that it linked to duplicate content, meaning that the same article was on two different domains.

I also noticed that a few sites which were linked to from my blog did not have the same Related Links section. I understand that the webmasters of the sites could have customized the plugin for their sites, but I did not see any links pointing outside of their sites besides Adsense.

I love the concept, but it's still buggy.
    • [1] reply
    • We recently have found a problem where people are either activating the plugin then deactivating after they get linkbacks, or are modifying the plugin code itself which is causing the 404 errors and the sites that you don't see the plugin working on like your site. We just wrote a function that will purge these sites and links from the network on a daily basis. If you check back tomorrow those links should be gone and replaced with valid sites and links in the network.

People are always going to try and scam the system, but we will always be on top of it and fix it.
  • I do not think google take quite naturally from the links on this plugin. perhaps interpret it as a purchase and sale = ban blog
  • I STILL have yet to have any links back to my site from this.

0 incoming links since my first reply in this thread.

    Website is www.howtoskateboardbeginners.com

Still ranking for the high traffic term "how to skateboard for beginners" lol woohooo

Above websites who have exact domain matches...www.howtoskateboardforbeginners.com and www.howtoskateboardforbeginners.org

    18000 exact global search volume.

Manual link building has always produced the best results for me.

    I love SEO

    • Do you have the plugin activated? I don't see it on your site. Obviously, if you don't have it activated, you won't get any backlinks. If you deactivate, any backlinks that you have gotten will soon disappear as well.

If you do have it activated, then we need to investigate why it is not working on your site because it is working quite well on thousands of other sites.

  • I installed this about 3 days ago, I'm seeing all kinds of links to other sites being placed on my post, but I'm receiving none in return. Should I give it more time or uninstall?
    • [1] reply
    • Hmm,

I installed this on one of my dead sites yesterday but have since de-activated it, not because it didnt work - it did work.

I had around 40 backlinks from the plug-in in one day.

I decided against the automation idea for the sole reason that if google did decide to slap the site then my other sites on the same server could end up getting slapped too.

Personal choice, but I will say the plug-in does work (at least for me it worked).

  • I use this plugin for two site. one site I check good backlink so far I know I get anchor text on extreme seo stat. other one in extreme seo stat there show more site but there are 4 link site has same domain. I check on backlink site there all backlink no anchor text/ link (I view source backlink site) that pointing to my site. why the result different?
  • yeah I wouldn't bother with them
    • [1] reply
    • Hmm I went to uninstall the extremeSEO plugin and it took two attempts as it seemed to hang on three of my blogs.

I checked out seolinknet's support forum and they say you have to use the WP plugins deactivate link and then delete plugin links from the console, because if you just delete it from FTP it will not run the database cleanup.

So I uninstalled correctly and deleted the plugin as per their instructions but in the database in WP_Options I found the settings extremeseo_headertext and
extremeseo_linksperpost were still live. So no DB cleanup!

I also had the latest and greatest version installed as I recently updated it on those three blogs.

Whats worse is that the outbound links on my posts are still there and I can't get rid of them. I will let you know if I find out where they are stored.

I'm starting to think that they make it difficult to uninstall as they need the links in the network for the whole thing to succeed.

    • Hi,

I installed this plugin on a new auto-generated games site on 18th May, and thought I'd chip in with my experiences:

I installed it via the Wordpress console. There are two visible components to the plugin: An options screen, which is quite basic, and a statistics page.

The statistics page didn't work at first (it had been deactivated by the publisher), but was working a couple of releases later. This did allow me to see what sites are linking into my site.

After a couple of weeks, I did see some links at the bottom of some of my posts. Of these, I'd say that 2 of 10 were directly related to my niche (which is Casual Games), and perhaps another 1 or 2 additional links related at a stretch (eg. console or entertainment system). None of the links appeared to be totally unsavoury, though I did see a couple relating to plastic surgery or similar such topics, which I wasn't exactly totally happy with (and, yes, there are quite a few SEO/IM/AM-related links, which can hardly be of interest to the readers of my site.)

I also found that links were added immediately to posts which were created by me, and only after some considerable time, if at all, to auto-generated posts (eg. 1 month or more). I suspect (though without any tangible proof) that my experience might be mirrored by other auto-blogs, and if would be interesting to hear of others' experiences.

Having applied a couple of updates since the install, I came back to my site a couple of weeks ago to find that they are now charging extra if you want to have a statistics module. In other words, there is no way of knowing who links into your site unless you pay (though admittedly, the amount asked for is not huge).

Furthermore, I have checked the backlinks to my site, which stand at 0 for Google, 3 for Yahoo, and 8 for Bing - not quite what I was expecting...

I've therefore decided that this is best dropped. While I didn't find it a huge burden on my blog in terms of interference, I was expecting some return in terms of backlinks, and, yes, I do fear that the irrelevancy of the links will affect my overall ranking.

However, it might work well for someone in the right niche (probably IM/SEO, etc, and perhaps also fitness/weight loss), who doesn't want to spend any time on backlink building, and who does at least post some content themselves.

I just I'd share my experiences, in case anyone else is considering this...
