Okay, this might be a totally stupid question, and I'm really really sorry if this is out there somewhere and I'm just too dumb to find it. But I have a website about dogs, and I want to enhance it with SEO to try to bring in more traffic. Now on the home page I have a few articles that have their own keywords. My question is, to use SEO correctly, do I need the keyword throughout the whole page or just in that article?

My question is, to use SEO correctly, do I need the keyword throughout the whole page or just in that article?
Should I have a separate page for each article?
My site already has 20 pages, and I'm trying to add more content regularly. At this point, I'm just trying to make a great site for dog lovers. I'm hoping with increased traffic I can start trying to sell affiliate products, but right now I'm more concerned about getting members.
Thanks in advance,
