How to Know if Your Page Got Penalized By Google?

Hi,
I've been wondering,
If google doesn't show your page on its own in the results, but it does show your page in the "show more results" feature when another page from the same website is shown in the search results (you know, the small little "+" icon at the end of the snippet), does this means that google penalized your page?

*I ask this because so far when I got penalized, google kicked me out of the results completely. However, this time it's different - yesterday my "hub" was ranked 29 (it was created less than 24 hours ago), but now it is only shown in the "show more results" feature of a different page from hubpages.

Thanks

It's normal for rankings to fluctuate, especially for new pages and sites. Build some backlinks to your hub, and you should see more steady rankings. There's no reason to worry.

Following are some ways to check if a site is completely banned or penalized:
    * Check the "site:" command and see if Google says it has no information on a site
    * Check the "link:" command and see if Google shows no links
    * Search on the domain name in Google.

If the site: and link: operator searches show no results, then it's almost certain that you site has been banned. If your site doesn't appear at all or ranks poorly in the search for its domain name, but the site: operator shows some pages in the index, that's good evidence that the site has been penalized.
