Why do Blogs say they are dofollow when they are actually nofollow?

I've just started commenting on blogs for backlinks and i am totally new to the strategy so please bare that in mind on what i'm about to say.

Okay so i download this program that apparently helps me to find dofollow blogs. It does this by searching for blogs that have dofollow type plugins.

It actually does a pretty good job of this, as it also lists the PR of each blog.

My beef here is that when i go to comment on these dofollow blogs, i check the source code for 'nofollow' and every comment link including the author name and comment url, has a nofollow attribute attached to it.

Now i'm looking at dofollow blog directories and the first 3 sites i checked out, same thing again.

REALLY FRUSTRATING!!!

So is there something i am missing here? I'm really looking to get some help on this - maybe i am just having rotten luck but i'm certain there is more to it then that.
#blogs #dofollow #nofollow

Instead of checking the source code for the noFollow links, save yourself some time by using a plugin like NoDoFollow, SearchStatus or plenty of others that will highlight/outline link types.

Its a scam. They do it to trick people to visit their site using false pretences. Its no different to to some of the IM scam that are all to common.

As of right now, there are no software that are able to correctly pull out do-follow blogs from the no-follows.

Do it the manual way, search for those do-follows, it'll save you more money and give you more SERPs.

SEO Spyglass will accurately tell you if a page is DoFollow or NoFollow.

I was simply suggesting that you do not have to do it manually.

You can comment on heaps of blogs automatically and then run the pages through Spyglass and have a list of the ones that are DoFollow and the ones that aren't. It's a much quicker process than finding them manually.

Mate i'm beginning to think the same thing myself.

I'm going to be doing more blog commenting today and this time i will be searching for dofollow blogs manually via google and some handy google strings i found on some blogs.

I will get back to you guys and let you know how it all goes.

BTW i just found out that SEOQuake has a nofollow checker built into it. You have to turn it on yourself but it's alot better then bogging down firefox with even more plugins.

Oh and for those who don't know, SEO Quake is a free firefox plugin that tells you all kinds of cool stuff about the pages you visit. Too much to explain here but it's free so you can find out for yourself.

Anyhow i hope todays backlinking efforts will be a little more fruitful.

        Thanks for replying everyone!

In many cases the blogs used to be dofollow but they have since changed it back to nofollow (usually due to an overload of spam) and they are still listed on the dofollow lists.

Why do married men on a night out go in a Bar and say they are not Married?

    - Go gain interest.

These blogs want your interest and comments.

Haha good analogy, and I am sure there are plenty of blog owners out there that do that for a reason, but my suspicions are with Trent on this one

Because of people like you spamming their blogs with your links to ugg boots, yeast infection cures and whatever that arab guy is selling (I can't read that crap), they changed them to nofollow.

Now go to a mirror, look at yourself and tell yourself that your a bad bad spammer and ruined dofollow blogs for everybody else. DO IT NOW!

Haha okay but i thought everyone wanted a cure for yeast infection lol

Yeah i see your point but i thought the reason for having a dofollow blog in the first place was so it invited more comments.

And i definitely do add to the discussion. I will read the post before i comment - always. It just bums me out that they say they are dofollow when they are not.

If the niche i was in had more relevant blogs i would much prefer to post on those - but i have not been successful with finding any.

      Off to the mirror now

Whenever there is a thread on back linking, you can always rely on a post from this guy accusing people of spamming.

The truth is that MOST of them were DOfollow but
when they got too many spams than they could
handle, they changed to NOfollow to prevent
spammers from using them as linking farms.
